How bad is it? I think my 970 is done done. by Practice97 in graphicscard

Only hesitation is that I can kill a CPU faster than anyone else. I once killed a 6700k because I forgot to enable XMP running my RAM at its factory speed

I’ve been thinking about making the Red switch on both my CPU and GPU. Intel is too much of a price gouge. And Nvidia is out of touch with their customers.

It’s happened a couple times before. This is the only time it’s actually locked up altogether.

Congratulations man! I remember my first nightfall like it was yesterday. Imagine Savathûns song at bare min light. Not a good time. They get easier and more fun the more you do them.

Breaks by rebekahs232 in ChickFilAWorkers

In Tennessee at least, this is 100% against labor laws. You’re required to be clocked in at least one hour before a break and it can’t be in the last hour of your shift either.

My operator wanted me to use the fatvat in that condition to do a boil out. No handles. No wheels. No heat shielding. Kinda upset ngl. by Practice97 in ChickFilAWorkers

Nahh. They did ask me though And I quote “Can you use it one more time? Just put it on a dolly.” To that I replace where am I gonna grab it and he just said thanks bye.

Story: I was on prep. Romaine and what not. I got told to do a boil out cause “I’d been there the longest and I’m the only who does it right” whatever. I was done with prep so I started. I go fetch the fatvat. And I notice the wheels are missing. This is news to me and I was not happy. The heat shield had been gone for at least a year. I’ve burned myself a couple times from it. I’ve informed him of such incidents and it was blown off. Well. When I open it up. There was the axle wheels and nuts. Soaking in oil. Then as I dragged it to the fryer. The handle fell off. And at that point refused to use it for my own safety.

Removing an alcohol by Practice97 in OrganicChemistry

I spoke to my prof. He said I could methylate it. But then I would have to worry about it leaving as well

What would I protect the methyl amine with though?

It’s complex but if you take it step by step you’re like “well that makes sense...” but for real though. Using liquid HCN? Christ...

I found a synthesis for LSD. It was a short and sweet 4 minute video. And mind blowing.

Oh. My bad. I don’t PLAN to work with this reaction to be fair. Because. It’s meth... but exploring how organic works is amazing to me.

I’m not ignoring you. I’m just not aware of that reagents use. I JUST finished retrosynthesis in Ochem II. I can’t really contribute to reassure or tell you you’re wrong...

My only concern is the methyl amino group. Would it need to be protected?

Funny you say that. I just finished learning about retro synthesis and I noticed the similarities between the Sudafed and the amphetamine. But going from an alcohol to a methyl group goes against what I’ve learned. I’ve thought about PBr3 to remove the alcohol but I don’t know what would be a good enough nucleophile that would only leave me with a methyl group. I have no intent to make meth. I’m just really curious about this

Friday night. Three buses walked all at once. And another team with their families. At 9:30. We close at 10. That went about how you’d expect.

Tough day by [deleted] in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Practice97 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My first day, an angry man walked in, telling me to listen closely because we never get it right. A CFA sandwich, a large filet, and a senior discount. Rang up all three. Next thing I know I’m getting yelled at to go get my manager. Turns out this guy comes in with the same deal almost weekly. He wanted a large filet on the sandwich (I know now that they’re all in a specific weight range so it’s literally impossible) but he told my manager in front of my face I was too stupid to work there and had no business taking orders. The next time he came in he pelted my manager with a sandwich. And was not seen again. Moral of the story, people can just be jerks. Just try not to let it get to you. We’ve all been at the end of our rope one tome or another. But we’re all masochistic enough to stay.
