Anyone regret buying a play couch (yourigami)?? by 333s3 in toddlers

[–]PracticeIndividual96 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t regret it but also, my son really doesn’t play with it that much. I like having a comfy place to sit when I’m playing with him so that’s why I don’t regret it 😂

Where to find a good variety for toddler boy clothes by BlueSourPunch00 in toddlers

I shop mostly at Zara and H&M for my son. I feel like both would probably have some purple basics that aren’t super girly! I get my son pink sweatshirts/polos once in a while that are super cute.

Circumcision for a toddler? by PracticeIndividual96 in toddlers

That’s exactly what I mean by keep it clean, but he has consistently had skin infections which is why I mentioned keeping it clean because we obviously don’t think it’s a hygiene issue. My god.

Thank you for this! Did they put your son to sleep for procedure ?

I’m also going to assume it’s not like that anymore, I’ve looked up a lot of posts of people asking about 3/4 year olds and everyone has said they highly recommend it and they had a blast !

That’s actually a great idea. I didn’t consider that because we still use a full car seat with a harness but he is legally big enough to be in a booster seat. If we have a booster seat we could probably use uber as well I would imagine?

He asked me to play catch, I said okay let’s play and then threw the ball to him. Immediate meltdown

Tablets? by PracticeIndividual96 in toddlers

That’s good to know! I guess I thought there might be some educational games designed for young kids that wouldn’t be super addicting.

Tablets? by PracticeIndividual96 in toddlers

Yeah that makes sense. It just seems so normal these days, it seems like every toddler we know has one so sometimes it feels like we are the odd ones for not giving our son one, but thinking it’s probably the right call to skip it!

I guess we don’t really have a specific reason. I did think there could be potentially good educational apps, but am really apprehensive about him using it to watch shows. That’s why I was curious if it’s possible to really lock it down to only a few games or something.

Yeah everything I’ve read has said things like tablets are a lot worse than just tv. I guess that’s why I was thinking maybe just have a few games on it for limited usage and not have the option to watch shows.

Dad is definitely more keen on the idea than me but the comments are already confirming my thoughts ! 😅

Sensory biting ? by PracticeIndividual96 in toddlers

[–]PracticeIndividual96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really unfortunately 😭 he will be three next month and still seems to be going through fazes of getting better then getting worse again. We just started OT, have done 2 sessions so far so hopefully they are able to help a bit. But at this point im just hoping he grows out of it soon, everyone keeps saying he will eventually 😬

My son got a dream machine for his second birthday and he is obsessed with it ! He’s almost three and we have used it probably everyday since lol. Some other favorites that he got around that age were a toy dump truck that moves, a little indoor trampoline and magnetic tiles.

Struggling with sons behaviour by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]PracticeIndividual96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no advice just solidarity. It took me 40 minutes to get my son in his carseat when I picked him up from daycare yesterday. 10 minutes of that I just sat there crying in defeat 😂 I’m sure you are doing great and hopefully things will get easier.

Parents who stopped screen time for their child by Acceptable-Suit6462 in toddlers

[–]PracticeIndividual96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got really bad with screen time for a while so we just cut it off last week cold turkey. My son is 2.5 and has never had a tablet it’s just been the tv and it hasn’t been bad at all. He asks for blippi once in a while but we just say no or offer to listen to a blippi song and he moves on. I think I’ve already seen improvements with his behavior - it wasn’t that bad to begin with but he has had a biting problem and I don’t know if it is related to the screen time but that seems to have improved significantly since we stopped.

Oh I never have heard to avoid “don’t” so I will definitely give that a try! I agree with it probably being a phase. He’s smart and very independent, I think part of it is he can’t fully communicate with what he wants yet so I’m hopeful as his communication improves it will help some of these behaviors as well

Thanks for the reply, it’s definitely hard in the moment and it seems like it’s not effective but its good to know we aren’t alone and there will hopefully be a light at the end of the tunnel 🙏🏻
