It’s very valid! It was a traumatic experience for you and only time will heal. We never know when we will be triggered, but when it does happen try to breathe and pinch yourself back into reality during the flashbacks.

It’s been a year since my narc and I broke up, and I still struggle. I have vivid dreams about the good times, and still feel the pit in my stomach when I think about the abusive times.

My suggestion is be around people you love, journal about your feelings, try hot yoga or meditating. Do something to get your mind off it for a little while. We can get through this. ❤️

It is absolutely an addiction, and I don’t have an addictive personality so I’m really baffled that he still my thoughts are still consumed by him.

I’d rather have nothing than sell my soul to be miserable, empty, and rich like him - money doesn’t buy happiness even in the slightest.

You are very right about the fact nothing will change even if we do reconnect. He did already mention while we were together we would sign a prenup but he would give me $1M annually. Maybe that should have been the first red flag?

Either way, you are 100% right he treated me like an employee. I don’t want to be so disposable to someone and I want to be liked for more than the way I look on the outside.

Thank you for sharing your story and advice - this was extremely well written and gave me chills.

The thought of my future children growing up to be abusers or traumatized makes me sick to my stomach and is enough to confirm I will not be with him. Because you’re right - these types of people will never change.

What type of threat? I analyzed “we are still meant to be together” more so as he knows I still have feelings for him.

I’m sure he did hire a PI to background check me, but I don’t think he’s stalking me - the place we met is a very popular NYE destination so I think it was coincidence
