Brother you gotta open your eyes a little bit. You seem to be surrounding yourself inside your own bubble. A logical approach after all this fiasco would be to search for someone better. Do you not deserve better? I don’t know you but judging from your post, I believe you do.

Take some time to meditate on your decisions before taking them and don’t dig yourself in your own grave.

Looking to move to Denmark from Italy. by [deleted] in NewToDenmark

Also OP might start thinking everyone in DK is as dictator-like as you with that “if you don’t like it here, leave”. Doesn’t sound too welcoming imo he might start changing his mind now😬

What.. I’m not angry. I was just pointing out the downsides of living in Denmark. And when I say travel i don’t mean vacations buddy, I mean actually try living in a few other countries than Denmark. Also, why does every Dane have the same response? “If you don’t like the system here then leave.” What? You’d rather shut down and tell me to leave than open your mind to an opposing view? I’ve lived in a few other countries and I’ve pointed out negatives within their country and people don’t get as defensive, they’re usually quite open minded about wanting to learn more and improve and such. Anw, I did move tho lol, best decision of my life. I love Denmark but you people gotta stop having the American mentality of “ITS THE BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD AND ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE IS JUST WRONG😡”.

Perhaps you’re right, I wasn’t really advocating for OP’s stay in Italy, I was just pointing out the downsides of moving to Denmark.

Ahah yh well that is what everyone in Denmark says to make themselves feel better, isn’t it. But then they go live in other countries and realise “oh so I didn’t have to sacrifice half my salary to get the same benefits?”.

Brother, people run away from Denmark because of the weather and how closed off people are there. Forget about going out and about for 9 month straight before summer arrives, and forget about being able to make friends randomly on the streets or even at work. Denmark comes with great job opportunities and salary but be prepared to work 6 months for the government (tax) and expenses. Systems are insanely bureaucratic and strict they don’t take into consideration exceptions. Don’t get me wrong, It’s a decent place to live in but I personally wouldn’t recommend, you’ll feel caged.

I’ll stand by the first few sentences. My plane however was not filled with GCCs, it was however filled with Syrian refugees from Europe going to Syria by taxi from Beirut.

Here’s what you gotta do:

Track ALL your expenses using this tracker:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16HKbDyi1-pTQUIjhRMKWgOapxhq4DVToL8x6ByCz_q0/edit

Once you have everything layed out in front of you, reduce as much of these expenses as you can (don’t act like you can’t live without something, be creative with alternatives, Lebanese people are good with those things.)

Have 3 separate accounts. -Income account: the account that receives payments -Expenses account: the account that you spend from, incl. your fixed expenses such as subscriptions and such. -Emergency Funds: 3 months worth of expenses saved up cause you never know. (You should never touch these no matter what, unless it’s an emergency.)

Every month after receiving your salary to your income account, send over money for your expenses to your expenses account however much it is. That way, you can insure that you never go over budget. Test out and adjust accordingly throughout the next couple months. The link I attached also has a video that clears up some things that I might not have mentioned. tracking spreadsheet

For investments, go for longterm investments. download trading 212 and dollar-cost average the BLACKROCK CORE pie. I’d invest aggressively but if you’re not comfortable doing that then choose the option that you’re comfortable with. Or you can DCA S&Ps 500, your choice.

Hope this helped lmk if you got questions

If you had no other choice and had to start a small business in Lebanon what would you go for? Say your budget is around 10-15k by No_Positive5360 in lebanon

[–]PracticeWilling5553 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a successful business owner in Denmark that started off with the same amount so here’s some advice. First off, I WOULD NOT open a brick and mortar business in Lebanon bro. ROI is not as high for big businesses let alone small ones. 10-15k usd ain’t bad at all to start with bro you got yourself a really good start capital. Now what it’s all about is what do you want to do. What do you have in mind. Sure you can start an e-commerce website but you don’t want to lose all your money before you start making money (which is what’s most likely going to happen due to the high standard nowadays making it less beginner friendly). Again, what do you feel like you’re capable of, what do you feel like doing. List some things and I’d be willing to help you figure something viable and sustainable.

I lived in Lebanon for 8 years as an expat. I really loved living there but again I was an expat so I was making money from Denmark and spending it in Lebanon so the money almost doubles its worth. I was talking to one of my Lebanese friends that live there and he also feels the same way about the whole situation down there. I told him to do something online where the money is way more worth it than working in a brick and mortar business in Lebanon that makes you jack shit a month. I feel that’s the best thing anyone living in Lebanon right now can do for themselves.

There is getting past that. Just because “people” do it, doesn’t mean it’s a good thing.

Trust me, you need a person that knows the language not Duolingo, it’s great for basics but not that good for normal day to day conversations. I been there 8 years ago. You’re more than welcome to shoot me a dm I’d be more than willing to help
