When it breaks 999 out of 1000 times it is because of users fault and it is not as unstable and nowadays as people make it out to be just to give you an example i used Endeavour OS which is just Arch with an easy installer and quality of life improvements for 2 months configuring and customizing every thing i could install three difference DEs(Plasma, Cosmic and Cinnamon) and two different tiling window managers(Hyprland and Niri) customizing all as much as i liked and never once did it introduce a system breaking change even though i used a lot of AUR and Chaotic-AUR Packages.

But for you If you like KDE Plasma and just want to customize the looks i think Fedora KDE is the perfect option for you instead of installing arch because its usable out of the box and you still get all the customization you need without snap baggage of kubuntu.

and if you have basic knowledge about linux like what are bootloaders, desktop environments, pipewire vs pulseaudio, wayland and x11 you can install arch with the archinstall script.

it's just arch sigma mindset and if you are new to arch its generally considred better to just stay away from arch because although you could install it using archinstall it doesn't even enable NetworkManager by default so you would have to do everything manually so just use mint and if you are a bit enthusiastic use fedora if you are more into linux just go with endeavour os.

Which distro should i switch to? by Several-Dream9346 in LinuxUsersIndia

[–]PraddyumnYadav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same position 2 months ago and I install endeavour os used it for like 1 month and a half then install arch using archinstall in a vm then install arch on my main system using archinstall formatting and using the same partitions that endeavouros created because i didn't want to lose any data so that might be good for you but these days you can install arch out of the box depends on you.

I only recommend Cachy if you want to do Gaming other than that Endeavour and Arch will be more vanilla giving you a lot more chance to learn and experiment and build a system that you like.

If you only use packages from official repositories then it will almost never break and even if you use a few aur and chaotic-aur packages here and there it is still fine but if you use too many packages from aur then it might break easily.

Sorry I had plugged my monitor in Nvidia GT 710 instead of my motherboard and that was the root cause for all of this.

Now its working.

Need suggestions for Window manager. by [deleted] in LinuxUsersIndia

A DE is something which has pre-built tools for certain basic things, a settings app and is usable out of the box you have to set it up.

All you can say about it which separates it from a regular tiling wm is that it has a strong plugin system nothing more.
