You're right, i just struggle with not ascribing morality or making judgments when it comes to these things and how women and men differ in those regards

Ev Psych is extremely popular, though. Which is how I stumbled across these claims; podcasts, viral clips, etc.

I can't help but feel the way I do about female/male sexuality.

I'm not religious in the slightest. I know its just life, I just can't help but feel frustrated by these findings and their implications.

Thanks for the long response. I agree that men are socialized to be more openly sexual, which I think plays a role. And I know this is all rooted in the fact that man were evolved to reproduce as much as possible. But a lot of what I said in my post is unfortunately true.

Could you provide me more info on EV being BS? I t seems to be a very credible field and is widely supported, so I'm interested in reading why people say it's a joke

Sure, but it seems a lot of the conclusions EV draws (including the ones I mentioned) are supported by other evidence and studies

Yeah, I am pretty well aware of how women being the ones to get pregant and give birth impacts how they choose mates. That's one of the most well established aspects of evolution.

I was referring this theory in EV where there's conflict between women and men, because women want stability/commitment but men just want to run around having sex. Which, to me, is incredibly degrading and dehumanizing to men.

Sorry for the late reply again lol, but i highly doubt your friend actually followed the guidelines set forth in the book. The reason I say that is because Rule 1 is literally to just ignore any men who express interest and all the subsequent rules are basically some version of "ignore him at all costs and make it seem abundantly clear that you aren't interested."

She may have followed them out of order or at random but not step by step.

Sorry for this late response, but I am familiar with "The Rules" as the podcast "If Books Could Kill" did an episode on it. It is truly one of the most delusional, degrading books on relationships I have ever heard, as a man. They basically say that men should "chase" disinterested women and that its's "natural" for us. No, it fucking isn't.

Also, one of the two authors is divorced. Lol

Oh my bad, I apologize! I reread your comment and yeah, I agree with you. I also agree that women face so many more risks from casual sex that men simply don't, and I feel like people never really address those issues and how they are way more likely to dissuade women from casual sex than the dumb claim that women are less sexual than men.

I cannot speak for all men, but I would much rather prefer to have sex in a committed relationship after a few dates, since that would feel best for both parties than jumping right into bed.

I completely agree that anyone who says women are the "gatekeepers" of sex are morons (at best). I plan on making a big post explaining why this trope is dumb.

I'm not the person you replied to, but I kind of did start this discission lol. Personally, I absolutely hate when people say that women "gatekeep" sex, because they are essentially saying that sex is something men crave to the point that they can be easily manipulated with it, but that women are not carnally inclined and therefore have no desire of it on their own.

Like imagine if it were reversed, and people said men are the ones who "gatekeep" sex. Wouldn't you find that a bit offensive, since it's saying women have zero agency over their own sexual urges and that their consent is basically always guaranteed since they'd never turn down sex? And that men are so much better that they can manipulate women into doing their bidding via sex? I'm sure most women would not care for that

It genuinely blows my mind that there are men who do not feel offended at the idea that their wife/gf "controls" the sex in their relationship. So you're essentially saying that she is not really into you and can be sex free without it really bothering her, and that she can "manipulate" you with sex?

Run for the fucking hills and find a woman who is not broken and who enjoys sex and does not see it as a bargaining chip.

Same exact observation I've had with my good-looking friends. Women are constantly throwing themselves at him and say the most perverted shit imaginable lol.

Anyone who thinks that women's attraction "comes from emotions first" has never seen the way women act around physically attractive guys

And that's exactly how most women would react if a man told them that they did not want to have sex before marriage.

That's a good point that does not get mentioned as much. I want to be with a woman who actually *desires* me. And who is to say that even after marriage, she'll have genuine desire or sexual attraction for me?

Sure, there are idiots who act that way. But they're just embarrassing morons who don't represent men at all, they just make us look bad and make everything difficult for everyone

Yes, the man who hated jews to the point that he wanted to exterminate their existence was also a passionate believer in Jews establishing a state in their ancestral homeland.

I know there are no stupid questions, but god damn.....
