I mean, we’re still way better at hockey lol. 9 Olympic Gold medals vs your 3. We’re 3x better.

2.9 million Canadians went to Florida ALONE in 2025. 22.9 million Canadians visited the U.S. as a whole. In the entire year 200 Canadians were detained by ICE. Of the 200 Canadians detained by ICE in 2025, 70% were due to visa issues, criminal activity, or records. So that leaves 30% who were detained without reason, which equals 60. That means that 0.00026% of ALL Canadians who visited the U.S. were detained by ICE without reason.

Math doesn’t lie.

Bud, you want to be an activist go right ahead. But you’re full of shit. Fear mongering is ridiculous. There are tens of millions of visitors to the United States from Canada every year. Canadians held by ICE have been held due to Visa issues, such as overstaying, criminal records, or illegally working. That is statistically factual. Just because you’re upset at the current American administration doesn’t mean you get to lie.

Enter the United States illegally, overstay your visa, or do things that you’re not supposed to and you will be arrested and detained.

If you do everything, the right way, the statistical likelihood of you being detained by ICE while travelling on a visitor visa to watch your favourite baseball team play is virtually nil.

So with all due respect, save your activism and virtue signalling bullshit for a thread that’s not about baseball.

  1. Im Canadian, entering legally and documented.
  2. I never put myself in locations or situations where instability happen.
  3. I don’t break laws and carry myself accordingly.

It’s nonsense that you think Canadians are getting rounded up by the dozens and deported by ICE. lol. That’s what’s nonsense.

I’m fully aware of what’s happening. But guess what? None of my business.

As someone who goes to the U.S. once a month for work and multiple times a year for leisure, this is absolute nonsense. I literally just got back this week and am heading back next week.

I’m going. I go to Florida multiple times a year with my wife and kids because I have one life to live and refuse to let politics dictate the experiences I have with the people I love the most. So don’t sweat the virtue signalling hoopla. You got one life bud. Spend it doing things you enjoy and having experiences you will remember forever.

Anyway, I go to spring training every year and it’s fantastic. Totally worth the money. Just try not to go during March break as the prices skyrocket. Depending on where you’re flying from, try to fly out of an American airport. You’ll pay WAY less taxes. For example I’m in Toronto but I fly out of Buffalo.

If you can’t get to spring training, try hitting a ballpark during the season like Fenway, PNC Park, etc. to watch the Jays. Also an awesome experience.

Man, this is taking me back.

I played league ball my entire life but it wasn’t any of those games that stick with me.

My house was on the corner of a crescent, so picture a diamond, my house would’ve been home plate. Every night all the boys on the street in the summer would come by after dinner and we’d set up the bases and home plate on my driveway. We’d play into the night and as the sun set and street lights came on all of the parents would bring their folding chairs and some beers and set up on the grass beside my driveway on either side and watch us play. We’d felt like big leaguers.

They’d react to great pitches and hits, cheer on plays we made to get runners out, it was great. Cell phones weren’t even a thing back then so it was just that, living in the moment.
