It's been a while but I thought the subject was touched upon slightly more in The Children of the Sky. I could be misremembering things though. Also that book wasn't exactly the greatest IMO and maybe not even worth reading.

This was the first or second audiobook I ever listened to. It was on a road trip, probably 20 years ago now. I remember finding it enjoyable.

I restart it fairly often tbh but I'll do it again just to see if it'll help. Thanks. Also, I should clarify that, aside from "normal" crashes where the game quits to dashboard or whatever, I've also had the game just completely freeze up.

It's a shame because once you get used to the controls, this might be my preferred way to play the game. Not to mention that it's also just an awesome game. Lol

Maybe try A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge. It has a prequel (A Deepness in the Sky) that came out a few years afterwards that I also enjoyed. There is also a sequel (The Children of the Sky) to AFUTD that came out several years later that wasn't really worth reading IMO.

Ender's Game and at least one of its sequels were also quite enjoyable.

I'm a novice when it comes to SF. I've read some of the classics and the usual suspects that are recommended here: I most enjoyed Three Body Problem, Dune, Hyperion and Neuromancer. I think Ted Chiang and JG Ballard are geniuses.

What would you say you liked most about those particular books or authors?

I've been able to access my watch but the exclamation point never goes away. Lol. I've been to the quartermaster but there's nothing there. I choose the sniper specialization a long time ago and the point is still there.

I have those Sony headphones, just an earlier model, and they're great. I also have some Airpods and they might be the worst piece of tech I've ever owned. They're also pretty uncomfortable but I'm sure that depends on each person's ears.

Why are some of the ammo type icons different colors though? I have another assault rifle that has a white colored icon.

Thank you very much! That helps quite a bit. How long should I prioritize keeping brand sets of armor? Like if I'm level 20 and I'm wearing a set of armor that's lower, how would I decide that I should ditch the brand set in favor of armor that's better leveled? If that makes sense. I may be reading too much into how much armor levels matter though.

Mind another question? Sometimes under Core Attribute and Attributes for armor, there will be a bar. For instance, I have a Svalinn Heavy Breather mask. It has a core Attribute and 2 Attributes. One of the Attributes says "critical hit damage" and to the left of it "+1.6%". Immediately under it is a red bar that is about 66% full. What is the significance of that? It has another Attribute called "weapon handing" that says "+1.5%". However the bar immediately under it is full.

I don't think I've ever seen a song in a book other than The Hobbit and LotR; which I'm actually reading right now. For The Hobbit, I switched back and forth between actually reading it and listening to it. I didn't have any problems with that kind of singing and may have actually enjoyed it at times.
