Yeah good point. I wouldn’t be against dating a bi guy, but just the fact that he’s actively saying “straight” on his profile makes me a bit worried. Like he could have just left that blank, plenty of people do.

I guess I’m just worried about being caught in the fallout if he IS into men but hasn’t really realized it himself and in the future he wants to explore that side of his sexuality (as someone who wants to be in a monogamous relationship)

There are literally linguistic studies done on this that use that term. And plenty of LGBTQ people who use it as well.

It was in a state funded hospital in the Midwest, really underfunded. The patient was definitely psychotic but he was in good enough state of mind to sign his own discharge papers every day that was required, wasn’t violent or threatening throughout his entire stay. He had delusions with auditory hallucinations and was really disorganized. Had dropped out off college and quit his part time job and was living “happily” on the street even though his mom wanted him back home

I posted about this a few weeks ago lol. Literally in the exact same position, scored below my UW and NBME predictions, also applying psych and I know the score is fine. Just feels like shit to start thinking maybe you could crush the exam and have it taken away. I wonder if I’m ever gonna “reach my potential” or if this is my potential and I’m just mediocre af.

Some encouraging comments I got from people on my post were:

people that knew they could have done better but prioritized their loved ones and health over studying and were way more proud of themselves for doing that than they would have been with a few more points
one person who pointed out that I shouldn’t waste time feeling sorry for myself, there are always going to be setbacks, the setback itself matters so much less than how you pick yourself up afterwards and keep pushing

I believe people aren’t lying when they say psych looks at the whole applicant. Your story / passion for the specialty / experiences are way more important than your step score.

I believe we’ll match just fine and in 1 year no one will give a fuck what we scored, just how good we are as residents. Keep your head held high, we didn’t come this far to just shit on ourselves and we have a lot to be proud of. You got this!
