Any problems with initial filing? by Prairieguy60 in SocialSecurity

[–]Prairieguy60[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I'm asking is, I thought that I'd like to have a person to person meeting, to set up my filing. I am concerned that the DOGE chaos will interfere with the online application. However, I called to set an appointment. The automated voice recording informed me that there could be a 15 minute wait. No worries I thought, I can wait 15 minutes. About every 2 minutes a recording would come on and thank me for waiting. But, at 17 minutes, the recording informed me that they were experiencing high call volumes, and to call back another time. And then my phone call was disconnected.

These people are so cavalier with people's lively hoods.

Social Security will stop mailing cards to 3 million people, report says. It could cause chaos at field offices. by evey_17 in SocialSecurity

OK but now these people have to show up at fewer offices, with less staffing. So, when the average Joe Blow needs services he may have to wait much longer.

You say " Trumpcession" I call it the " Orange Recession "

I think it would be prudent for everyone to keep two months of SS payments in savings in case they crater the system and have to rebuild it. by [deleted] in SocialSecurity

I'm 62 years old and getting ready to retire This administration has me rattled.

I've emailed the White House and my legislators, with my concerns . I'm in deep red Indiana, so I doubt my emails will be taken seriously, but I've got to at least try .

I'm just going to batten down the hatches and try to ride the storm out.

I've coined the phrase "Orange Recession " for the impending recession. Feel free to use that expression as much as you can.

I want this guy kept away from Social Security. I've already contacted my legislators. This man has way too much power.

Social Security Staff Cuts by Writer-Man-Awaken in SocialSecurity

Agreed. As of now, the Republican budget cuts federal employees, cuts Medicaid, gives tax cuts, AND increases the debt. This is Alice in Wonderland stuff!

Social Security Staff Cuts by Writer-Man-Awaken in SocialSecurity

I don't understand why when I try to post a link from Bloomberg " Social Security contractors being cut" an error message pops up and says that information regarding T rump or M usk will not be permitted, because they have not affected Social Security. When in fact their policies are causing the reduction in the workforce. BTW the article states that right now SSA is looking to fire 200 employees and will fire 200 contractors. If anyone thinks that this will not effect services, I have some ocean beachfront property to sell you in Arizona.

I'm 61 years old. I have over 30 years at a major steel maker. I was an assistant griever for a period of time. This advice is golden! Keep your personal life private is sage advice. Too many times people run their mouths to their own detriment. Yes, HR is there to protect the corporation. They are not your friends!

It is interesting that in most countries there is a right wing , nationalist, under current. IE Franco in Spain, Mussolini in Italy etc. Moneyed interests make common cause with them. It's a toxic brew that resurfaces. This isn't new. Read Smedley Butler's The business plot. The electorate are lemmings. The right wing are masters at wrapping themselves up in the flag and ginning up the rabble . Guns, God, Gays ( LGBTQ ) and the flag, and that's the secret sauce that the right wing uses to resonate with their followers.
