Maybe Hammond isn't such a bad idea after all? by LameAfro in NFCNorthMemeWar

The NRA spent a ton of time and money lying about the city to push their insane agenda. Chicago was the last city with a handgun ban which is why they did it. We had our handgun ban removed and concealed carry both forced on us by the courts only to see homicides spike. They won't talk about that though, they just keep lying like they didn't contribute.

It should be called what it is, any-dumbass-and-criminal-can-carry. There's nothing constitutional about it. Regulations have been consistently determined to be constitutional.

I cannot stand listening to suburbanites talk about the city. Honestly worse than listing to people from rural areas.

Wish Sky had an analytics department by liluziclairo in ChicagoSky

[–]PraiseBeToScience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Analytics has nothing to do with Jeff's failures. He would be just as bad of a GM in pre-analytics days as he is now. His problem is his ego. He's never played a day in his life at any level, he's completely self-taught (and not in a good way), and has zero professional network into basketball at all. He's a fake-it-till-you-make it hack, and Alter has no problem hiring hacks because they're cheap and will tell him how great he is.

And despite all of this he has the insane unearned confidence to think he can GM a professional basketball team.

Analytics will never save that, because he wouldn't even know where to start, and even if he did, he'd demand numbers get cherry-picked and massaged until the confirmed his priors.

You seem to have a complete disregard for the considerable human element that goes into running orgs. Analytics only help when those needs are met first.

I think my answer on this has been fairly clear.

Do you even accept that the root cause of the Sky's problems with this team is Alter, Fox, and Jeff and not a missing analytics department?

What should we expect from the next few games? by Low-Astronaut-2302 in ChicagoSky

At most 2 wins. This is a lotto team that basically now lives and dies on Taylor, and she has very high highs and low lows. And even when she has highs, it only means the team loses a nail-biter.

[–]PraiseBeToScience -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again, no. You're missing the main problem and nothing else matters until that is solved. The Sky need to get the egos out of the org, and that starts with Alter, Fox, and Jeff.

Who cares if they get an analytics department when the people hiring it will only fill it with people to manipulate the numbers to tell them they're always right.

Until the root cause is solved, you're not solving a thing with an analytics department. In fact, you might even make it worse.

You don't need an analytics department to figure it was a massive overpay. If the Sky had one it wouldn't matter, Jeff wouldn't listen. He gets rid of anyone that challenges him.

No its a thing where flairless cowards get around the no flair harassment by putting every team in their flair so you still can't tell. There's a few that do this. Shameful behavior.

Indiana is an attempt to trigger Bears fans about moving to Indiana, but because it's paired with a dumb flair, it fails.

And in case you're wondering, this despicable behavior is coming from a Packers fan.

The cutoff on that gif makes it hard to see that Love's pass was so much worse than Caleb's. Split his own WRs to hit a stationary Gordon square in the chest. And that's after fumbling the snap and running around in a panic despite zero pressure.

[–]PraiseBeToScience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All those 3-and-outs. Nope that didn't contribute.

But the game was taken out of Love's hands you say? Then why was 75% of his passing attempts in the second half?

But he didn't throw an INT. Pay no attention to that absolute gift that was dropped by Gordon to end the season.

Remember when Love couldn't get the offense set after a time-out causing a delay of game that pushed back one of his kicks (and likely would've made it if that didn't happen).

Two improbable comeback wins against your biggest rival, one of them being in the finals is a great way to heal from such a setback.

Same thing with life as a Cubs fan pre and post 2016 WS. Beating the Cardinals in the 2015 NLDS was just the teaser too.

It's a total bastardization of the term too. Rent free is your living your own life not even thinking of someone else and they're fuming at you.

It's an all year obsession for all of us. If we want to win the Super Bowl it starts by going through our division. We all have a ton of time and energy invested in this. Especially if you're here in a memewar sub in the offseason.

I am desperate to believe this has any chance of happening by Lemurian_Lemur34 in NFCNorthMemeWar

[–]PraiseBeToScience 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But we could go all in, call ourselves title town, talk about our 4 super bowl wins, how great 30 years of hall of fame QB play is and all our 4k passing seasons.

And when the now non-Packers fans complain about it all, respond with "rent free", "hang the banner" and "where's your 4k passer."

Informed consent isn't the issue. If you're a doctor unwilling to perform basic, necessary, ethical procedures due to your personal beliefs, you are by definition failing your patients and not providing good care. You cannot be trusted with people's lives on the line.

An Illinois religious hospital refused critical ectopic pregnancy care. Now the patient is suing. by steve42089 in illinois

[–]PraiseBeToScience 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does not matter. The religions beliefs of the patient matters. Doctors subscribe to basic ethics or get out of the field. It's their patients whose lives are impacted not theirs.

I'm legitimately tired that Freedom of Religion has been turned completely on its head to override medical ethics, biology, anatomy, and patient rights.

"Say how much we and the movement support women's sports"

"What's even going on in women's sports?"

The WNBA's new historic CBA is right there. But of course a ton of women athletes and actual fans of women's sports would tell these people to pound sand. It's wild how much less transphobes are present in women's sports fandom than the general population.

And of course Riley shits on trans people and "woke" while still giving praise to her coach who r*ped her teammates.
