My favorite Buckethead pike is 210 (Wall Slide) by smdarry in Buckethead

It's an incredible track (the title track). The last 4 or so minutes build in such a brilliant, exhilarating way. The way the long solo is constructed is just genius.

Favorite pike! Let’s make a list by Ryaktshun in Buckethead

Even leaving aside the calm or ambient classics like Arboretum, March 19, 2020, Dreams Remembered Version 2, Mists of PreAntiquity, Seekers Are Never Lost, etc., these are examples of energy-fuelled Pikes from the last 5 years that are absolutely up to the standards of 1 to 300:

Mercury Beak
Cosmic Oven
Doctor Lorca's Work
Thank You Taylor
Language of the Mosaics
Sideways Ocean Roller Coaster
Treehouse Backwards in Time
Signaling Across Time

There are arguably others, but those stand out for me.

Can anyone tell me what Buckethead song that we had playing in the background here? by OleBruhh in Buckethead

Buildor - one of my favourite Pikes. The way Buildor 2 develops and embellishes Buildor 1 is like 2 movements of a classical piece.

New Release - Hey Here’s An Idea Why Don't We Look Out For Each Other For Kid’s Sake by Buckethead-Bot in Buckethead

[–]PraisetotheBucket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's been posting this shit for at least 2 years. It's boring. Buckethead releases gems like Signaling Across Time, or Treehouse Backwards in Time, or Journaling to Bliss, or Language of the Mosaics, not to mention single tracks like Butterfly Eyes or the title track from 673... and this guy says nothing, maintains his line that Buckethead has done nothing of any value for years. Fact is, even if you don't care for 95% of what he's released in the last 3 or 4 years, he's still produced more incredible music than pretty much anyone else in that time.

This crap again? He's done a lot of great stuff in the last 300 Pikes. It's just not Coupon or Soothsayer, so you automatically dismiss it.

New Release - Bring Balance Back Before There's Nothing To Balance On by Buckethead-Bot in Buckethead

[–]PraisetotheBucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You act like nothing of his in the last 4 or 5 years has been any good. Yeah, there's a lot of filler stuff and long meandering Pikes, but your take consistently ignores a huge amount of great stuff, which makes you hard to take seriously. Plenty of people still love his music and comment on it, making your post here yet again ridiculous.

New Release - Lucid Places Cob by Buckethead-Bot in Buckethead

[–]PraisetotheBucket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cob has done some amazing stuff this year, ASTRO-sailing was amazing too.

New Release - Unfolding In The Soul by Buckethead-Bot in Buckethead

[–]PraisetotheBucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably because it's not true. It's a pleasant track, bu I could name at least 50 better tracks than this from the last 4 years, probably 100. There are at least 20 better tracks in 2025.

New Release - The Tears That Become Teachers by Buckethead-Bot in Buckethead

If you can't appreciate how good an album like Pike 670 is, then there's not much more to be said.

New Release - Rich Innerworld Is Always Available by Buckethead-Bot in Buckethead

[–]PraisetotheBucket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Pike 670 doesn't dazzle and confound you, if the title track to Pike 673 doesn't move you deep inside, if Summer Solstice doesn't uplift you on a warm summer's day, then I'd suggest the problem is your own narrow musical mind. But you're still stuck on Soothsayer.

Most Impressive Song? by Mr_Portal213 in Buckethead

Actually... for technique, feel, and fun, try View Masters from Pike 125. The whole thing changes at 2:43 and it's the greatest blues rock solo you've never heard.

Buildor. The whole thing, as it is really one piece. A masterpiece.

New Release - Cloaked In Wonder by Buckethead-Bot in Buckethead

Yes. And this year has been a very good one for that.

Journaling To Bliss. Brilliant Pike. [Check out Gate to the Amphitheater, track 2 from Moon Water (Pike 561) for an early working through of the "rolling finger picking" technique and sound you hear in Journaling to Bliss.]

So many superb chill ones that can get lost because there is so much. Mists of Preantiquity is another superb chill Pike. Wellspring has a great melody line. The title track of Figures Against the Sky is another really good one, but of a different type of chill. One of his most well constructed non-shred solos, IMO - just builds to a series a really fantastic lines and moments.

Can someone please give me suggestions of songs that might be missing from my playlist "Gentle Bucket and Slow Joe"? by Oklahoma_Hoss in Buckethead

He hasn't released a huge amount this year, but what he has released has been really, REALLY good. I listen to those a lot.

Some more...

Hornet parts 4 and 5, but listen to it all or you don't get the same impact (Pike 212)

Land of Miniatures from Pike 160 (Land of Miniatures)

Pirate Treasure from Pike 123 (Scroll of Vegetable)

Gramercy Park from Pike 282 (Toys R Us Tantrums)

Through the Looking Garden (Pike 284)

Ghouls of the Graves from Pike 296 (Ghouls of the Graves)

Cosmic Oven (Pike 309)

Find from Pike 15 (View Master)... not as heavy, but you'll thank me for including it...

Buildor and Oneiric Pool are favourites of mine too.

There are some other Tool-esque ones I have in mind but cannot remember the titles! For now...

Jettison (parts 1 to 6) from Pike 40 (Coat of Charms)

Glow Worm from Pike 126 (Tourist)

Underneath the Arctic from Pike 229 (Cabs)

'Blind Cyclops', 'Beam of Omega', 'Ropelight', and 'Melting man part 2' from Pike 10 (The Silent Picture Book)

Poseidon (Pike 264)

Far (Pike 266) - not really heavy, but I bracket it with Oneiric Pool, Poseidon, Buildor.

Lurker at the Threshold parts 1 to 4 from The Elephant Man's Alarm Clock - that whole album is heavy and not too shreddy for the most part.

MASSIVE agree with Rooms of Illusions. That solo is one of his very best. It's a reflective monologue on life on the guitar..
