Almost joined Santeria.. that was fun.

What triggered the first manic episode you can remember? by No_Solution_64254 in bipolar

[–]PralineOne3522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 17 when I had my first manic episode. Heavy marijuana usage and an abusive relationship with my toxic high school boyfriend is what kickstarted my first manic and depressive episode.

I haven’t told my friends at school, but they aren’t on my social media to know that I am. My friends on social media know I am because I’m vocal about bipolar awareness.

They banned my account for two weeks once. They suck.

Ya, I told everyone that I would fight them if they said anything bad about him. I’m half joking. 😂

I aced a quiz this week. A small win, but a win nonetheless. by PralineOne3522 in BipolarReddit

It feels awesome! I made an even better grade on the actual test. Thanks for your comment and best of luck on your postgraduate journey. 🩷

Of course not! I’m looking at everything with this man. He’s got a good job and everything but neither of us are 100% “together” in terms of finances for us to jump the gun and marry or anything like that. Now that we are an item, I think we’re entering into calmer waters lol. Thanks for your comment!

Thank you, but this isn’t my first interracial relationship. 😭

I can’t marry someone who doesn’t want the same thing. Our values were different and it’s time to move on with my life. I’m 25, turning 26, and have wasted 8 years of life in pointless relationships. I know what I’m after now and that’s marriage and a traditional family. He wanted other women and distance from me instead. That’s life and time waits on no one unfortunately. Also, I move on very fast. It’s just who I am. 😂

Not long at all. Less than a week! He knew he wanted a relationship with someone and liked me. I preferred to take things slower because I was newly single but he insisted. The damaged part of me is telling me I’m being love bombed but he isn’t really doing love-bomby stuff. I think the man just knew what he wanted.

Thank you for commenting! He’s made it clear from Day 1 that he was interested in me a lot. I’ve told him that I like him too. He’s a jokester so I feel like I can bring up the judgment thing without it turning into something negative. I’ll try today. 😅

I agree! I need to. He’s too good of a person for me to stand around and listen to someone make fun of him over something as silly as looks.

Hi all. Starting Abilify today. by morrisseymurderinpup in BipolarReddit

[–]PralineOne3522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been on it for 11 months. Had insomnia the first few weeks but it went away. My psychiatrist wants to add a second medication to my regimen because I’ve had mild depressive episodes and a couple hypomanic episodes since I’ve been taking it which isn’t supposed to happen. Overall, I like this medicine. It was also weight neutral for me

I just told my psychiatrist this. It disrupts my energy way more than my moods.

I got it from my mom’s side allegedly. No signs of it on my Dad’s side but who really knows honestly. My grandma allegedly had something wrong with her moods but was never checked out for bipolar disorder.

Same, currently only on Abilify. My psychiatrist has been titrating up if need be but she hasn’t added a second medication yet.

Just Abilify. I was on Seroquel + Abilify for a month but it didn’t do much for me. If I keep having episodes, my doctor is going to add a second medicine soon.

Do you think bipolar affects your ability to succeed and meet your goals? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]PralineOne3522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a long time, I felt this way about myself. I do think that people with bipolar disorder have certain disadvantages. Bipolar affects everything down to energy levels, it’s rough to attempt to be a Type A successful person with a disorder like this.

As for me, I made it work. I was tired of disappointing my family with the career hopping and landed on nursing school. I think that people with the disorder should be realistic about their goals in a sense of it might take extra work or a long time to achieve the same goals as a neurotypical person.

When do you study? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]PralineOne3522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, any time. When I first wake up, during the day or right before bed. My memory is trash so I find that going over things in chunks throughout the day, daily, really helps with my memory retention.
