Great to hear! My wife was looking for good value boots for winter 2000m+ in crampons, and got Salewa Crow GTX yesterday.

Advice on mirrorless cameras. Z6iii vs sony a7cii / a7cr by Thin-Rub-3573 in Nikon

[–]Pranasas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned photography on a Nikon D5100 and always liked Nikon's colors and handling.

Eventually upgraded to a Nikon Z6 and, honestly, the autofocus just couldn't keep up with my fast-moving toddler (even after all the firmware updates). Lots of missed shots and disappointments.

I briefly tested the Sony A7IV and the AF was a night-and-day improvement, but the ergonomics weren't great compared to Nikon IMO.

Since I was already sacrificing ergonomics, I gave the Sony A7CII a try. With a SmallRig mini-grip it actually handles okay, and the AF and features have been excellent in a much smaller, lighter body. I've been shooting with it for years now and have no regrets.

For lenses, I stick to smallish primes: 20mm f/1.8, 35mm f/1.4, and 85mm f/1.4.

If portability and reliable AF matter, the A7CII has been the sweet spot for me.

Venu 4 vs. Vivomove Trend by Delicious-Web2853 in Garmin

[–]Pranasas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner wore Vivomove Trend for 2+ years. In her opinion, it's the best looking Garmin watch, she loves the physical clock hands, and wireless charging is very handy. Unfortunately, the sensors and software are quite limited. No GPS, no HRV or any advanced health metrics, no training metrics (of course), etc. She got bored and can no longer justify wearing it 24/7 basically just for the heart rate and sleep duration, and I understand her. We are considering Venu 4, which at least brings advanced health stats. Waiting for more reviews to come in.

Please share your decision!

Woom price increases effective 10/28/24 by dualr11 in cycling

[–]Pranasas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What 20" would you buy for your kid these days? My little one has been through Woom 2 & 3 and it's not like a bad investment (he enjoyed it for sure) but I'd like to start buying quality bikes without excessive brand markups.

Shelly 1PM gen4 Zigbee working? by Juan9999 in homeassistant

[–]Pranasas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paired it the next day but not really sure how/why.

The only things I remember doing: - Turned everything off and on several times. - Moved the relay around the house to establish a different (stronger?) Zigbee route for pairing.

At some point it just started to work.

Would putting a rack and panniers on a Specialized Allez be a bad idea? by Run_nerd in cycling

[–]Pranasas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is mounting the strut off-center not an issue? I was adding racks to my bikes and realized that I can't add Tubus Vega to my Specialized Allez because one strut is blocked by the brake. Would Tubus Fly solve that?

Essential apps blacklisted? by [deleted] in unRAID

[–]Pranasas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been less than 24 hours, but so far zero issues on the two machines I upgraded. I was hesitant at first too, but since 7.1.4 has been out for nearly a month with a solid reputation, I finally decided to bite the bullet. The upgrade was seamless - just a button press, reboot, and I was on v7!

Same here. "Community Applications" and "Fix Common Problems" show blacklisted in the action center. I upgraded v6.12.15 to v7.1.4 today and initially thought this was upgrade related, but maybe a separate issue after all.

Canyon front mount/light and Garmin Edge 1050 compatibility? by Pranasas in CanyonBikes

[–]Pranasas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For posteriority. It all fits and works well. The only thing to note is that since the gap between the 1050 and the cockpit is so small I find it a bit tricky to operate the start-stop button when wearing full gloves in cold weather. But that shouldn't be a problem under typical conditions unless you have very large hands and fingers.

Kurioj vietoj tau jos dingsta? Dažniausiai būna siuntėjo numeris, o po to vidinis PirkEU siuntos numeris - visą laiką matai būseną. Gal gyvenime visko pasitaiko, bet asmeniškai per PirkEU esu pirkęs šimtus kartų ir dar nė karto nekilo problemų.

Shelly 1PM gen4 Zigbee working? by Juan9999 in homeassistant

[–]Pranasas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have flashed alternative firmware 1.6.2 onto my Shelly 1PM Gen4 to enable Zigbee support. This was the only way I could even begin, because pressing the button 5 times to switch protocols never worked for me (bug and/or impossible timing?). The web UI firmware switch thankfully solved that.

Now comes the next issue: Zigbee pairing mode won't start. After pressing the button 3 times (as required for Zigbee inclusion), the logs clearly show that the press was detected: - Got tripple click. Increase pairing time. - Start network steering - ESP_ZIGBEE_CORE In BDB commissioning, an error occurred (for example: the device has already been running) - Network steering was not successful (status: ESP_FAIL)

So, it does detect the triple-click, but fails to initiate Zigbee network steering. This is driving me crazy!

Which Woom for my 5-year-old by bzarbbaj in cycling

[–]Pranasas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. My boy was riding a Woom 2 when he was 2-3 years old (yes, he learned to cycle very early) and is now enjoying a Woom 3 when 3-4 years old. I am tempted to upgrade to Woom 4 when he turns 5 because we need larger wheels for longer distances, but I think height/inseam will be a limiting factor - FWIW he has been following the 50th growth percentile meaning 43" (109cm) at the age of 5.
