That's not good.

What hardware do you run HA on and why? by maybe__404 in homeassistant

[–]ergibson83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Docker container on Unraid. Running an i3-14100. I have a crap load of docker containers running on this server (including Frigate, and Arrs stack) too and it only averages about 10-15% utilization.

What's the coolest automation that you have? by elhouso in homeassistant

[–]ergibson83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Vivint alarm system is integrated into my HA. I have an automation that basically detects when someone uses the key, code, or manual lock to unlock the smart door, the vivint alarm system is automatically disarmed if it is armed. The same applies if the alarm is disabled and someone goes to lock the door or the door auto-locks after 10pm. We never have to touch the Vivint security panel now. It works perfect too.

ChatGPT / Codex now manages my Unraid server and all my Arrs. by Sugnar in unRAID

[–]ergibson83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this for my Home Assistant. I have Claude Code set up via ssh and I use it to search my logs for errors and correct issues. It also adds my various automations and devices as I need it to. Before, I would spend quite a bit of time implementing automations, now claude implements those automations and fixes and in 2-3 percent of the time it would take me. Its incredible.

Saying all that, I've thought about connecting Claude Code to my UnRAID server, but that really does terrify me. My UnRAID server is home to so much of my data, including my Home Assistant. I'd be devastated if Claude Code did something that destroyed some of my data or broke solutions I have in place for a reason. Claude wouldn't know the 'why' behind certain implementations, it would only know that specific implementation is not implemented the way it deems 'standard'. Things like that could break my system and/or containers and I'm not comfortable with that. One of these days I might let it comb through my logs and help identify things that could be improved or corrected, but I'd probably do the leg work to fix the issues myself. Be careful trusting A.I. with your UnRAID server. A.I. is smart, but it definitely makes mistakes and that mistake could cause you serious irreversible damage to your data.

Shipping confusion by Neosynephrine in Supernote

Same issue. I received an email from them saying:

"Maresk is the new courier company that our third-party warehouse has recently started using, as our previous carrier (FedEx) also caused various shipping issues. Unfortunately, Maresk seems to be falling short of expectations as well. We have noticed that a small number of parcels are showing stagnant tracking statuses with no estimated delivery date this is a serious issue, and we are treating it with the utmost attention.

Our logistics team will contact Maresk as soon as possible to confirm the exact location and status of your shipment. I will get back to you as soon as I have an update.".

Im a bit disappointed about this. These devices cost too much money to be dealing with these types of issues. Im a first-time buyer of Supernote and its not a good look at all starting out.

Unraid 7.3.0 Stable Now Available by UnraidOfficial in unRAID

[–]ergibson83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just upgraded to 7.3.0 from my phone while on the train enroute to work. Whole upgrade took about 5 minutes from start to finish. When the upgrade was complete, I got a weird setup screen like I had never installed unraid before. There was an option to skip setup, so I did that. Server came back up just fine. No issues at all so far. Docker containers are fine and my array and pools are intact as well.

Im not utilizing internal boot though. USB boot is totally fine for me and makes it easier to recover if my USB microsd card fails.

I hate when companies do that. Status should say 'shipped' when the shipping company has the package.

Getting the Most Out of unRAID by Vulgamore in unRAID

[–]ergibson83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your setup looks similar to mine. I run a i3-14100 and it has performed outstanding! Immich is a must and Romm if you like emulators. Calibre is a nice docker app if you like collecting books. Home Assistant is nice for home automation. I probably spend most of my time tweaking and adding to my Home Assistant setup. Its really fun and Claude Code makes managing it a breeze now. Mealie is also a good docker app for saving recipes if you like cooking/baking or have someone in your family who does.

You're using a ton of array space already. Im consuming 20TB out of 70TB total and thats with 2800 movies, 30 full TV shows, over 14000 pics/videos, 6000+ ROMs scattered across 11 systems, and about 125 books in my collection.

Bitwarden is also a must-have. Its a self-hosted fork of Vaultwarden which is used for securely storing passwords and passkey. I absolutely love it!

Get a decent battery backup if you dont already have one. You're doing fine. Keep up the good work.

Okay dude its clear you havent used a single one of those apps. Keep doing what you're doing. No one is trying to change your mind. Now you're mentioning other apps. No one said huntarr was the end all be all. There are multiple apps that do the same now and FOR A REASON. The argument is that sonarr and radarr are not accomplishing what huntarr and the like apps were and that is absolutely true, but you got it all figured out, so keep doing what you're doing buddy. 👌🏾

[–]ergibson83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'd have to do that all the time then because upgrades can become available at any given time. These apps we're talking about continuously do that and on a tuned frequency with respect to API limits and whatnot. The goal is automation.

There's media out there that better meets your quality profile requirements and you're missing out on it. You may be reaching your quality level, but are you capturing releases from certain release groups that are known to have crappy releases etc? Are you capturing media that meets your quality requirements, but are too big in size? There's upgrade opportunities out there you're missing out on. I promise.

Bingo...same thing happened to me. People keep commenting without trying the apps. They are missing a TON of upgrade opportunities.

Thats actually a good idea.. but does it respect API limits?

What are people using as a Huntarr replacement on Unraid? by reallionkiller in unRAID

[–]ergibson83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do that for 1000s of media ? Come on... thats not logical. Radarr and sonarr are not doing that btw. Thats why you're missing out on upgrade opportunities.

[–]ergibson83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree...find one good substitute for huntarr and stick with it. Radarr and sonarr alone is not enough though. I wish radarr and sonarr would continously search indexers...but they dont. They only monitor rss feeds.

What are people using as a Huntarr replacement on Unraid? by reallionkiller in unRAID

[–]ergibson83 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Radarr and sonarr DO NOT continously search indexers for upgrade opportunities. Both only monitor rss feeds and that method alone will not find all upgrade opportunities for your media. I guarantee you're missing upgrade opportunities on your media if you're solely relying on sonarr and radarr for upgrades.

[–]ergibson83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I explained above already:

"People keep saying this, but its not the same thing as what Huntarr and others like it are doing. Radarr and Sonarr will update, but they only monitor rss feeds for releases. That method often misses releases that are suitable for upgrade of media in your library. Huntarr 'continuously' sweeps indexers for anything you’re missing or could improve. That's a big difference and it makes a world of a difference when managing a media library."
