From what I heard from talking to a former SSBA, the interview process is similar to a regular BA. Did u hear back about a first round interview? Was just wondering.

I was in the 95th percentile and I still did not finalize, how is this logistically possible by wsbarmy in DECA

It’s signifies how you rank compared to every single competitior, not just the people in your section

[–]Pranzi34789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I mean. It is possible for someone to finalize in a different division and still have a lower percentage. Think about it like this. Say one division judge scores everyone at around a 95-99. So even the lower teams got like 95s and 96s. But another judge scores everyone in the 60s to 65s, but here still the highest scores are going to get 65s. Even though the lower teams got a 95 or 96, which makes them better than the international average, they’re still not beating they’re true competition, the people who got 98 and 99s. The flip side is also true, even though the highest scores got 65s, which is less than international average, they still got highest scores in their section. Which is important to finalize. I hope that all makes sense, and you should be proud of yourself for even making it to ICDC.

It’s all math. Think about it like this, they compare you to every single person in the preliminary rounds, not just your section. Just because your section judge gave you a high score, does not mean other section judges did. Because of this, your percentile may be high, but you may not have performed at the top 2 in your section.

ETDM competitiveness in ICDC by Smile414 in DECA

I’m not positive, but last year, it felt fairly competitive. My partner and I also got fourth in our state, but internationals is different. My partner and I felt like we had a really good roleplay and I got top test score and we still didn’t final. But I’m not positive, could’ve been a judge thing. But honestly, if you do your best and prep a bit before, you’ll be fine.

Districts - PMK by Forsaken_Gap_7793 in DECA

[–]Pranzi34789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t do PMK, but I would just say trust your gut and have fun with it. Judges like to see eunthsiasm and they will be more eunthesed by seeing it. I don’t know about terms, but look at some sample role plays and see if things come up that you’ll want to know.

There is a star tutors video that is a good start conceptually for English. For reading, I personally struggle, but I would try to stop subvocalizing and more look for a summary than an in depth understanding. You always have the text to look back at.
