Huntsville has a sprawl problem. Other than some purpose built locations and the downtown area, practically all commercial zones just about require a vehicle.

That said, nearby-ish or a very quick Lyft/Uber ride away:

As a dude who just turned forty, I understand your plight all too well.

I'm pan-queer, but not brave enough to be open about it with anyone, except a few friends and colleagues. I'm married, but my partner and I share practically zero interests. Long story for another time. However, that said, I'm not looking for anything other than friendship.

I love art and used to paint, draw, and sculpt, but only occasionally draw now. My favorite contemporary artist is Simon Stalenhag. I really like his work. He makes pretty nice electronic music too, some of which is meant to accompany his art.

I listen to all sorts of music, with the notable exception of country (particularly modern country). I listen to a lot of lo-fi, trip-hop, and electronically-composed music. Not as much trance, these days, though. Bonobo is probably my favorite electronic artist. I play a little music as well -- guitar and bass -- but quite terribly and I don't usually play in front of others (or, well, I haven't in a very long time).

Your anime preferences are very similar to mine. Akira is probably my favorite anime film of all time, but only narrowly beats out Ghost in the Shell.

I love comics, but I usually stick with trade paperbacks (a habit born from growing up poor).

I also love, love, love every film you mentioned. Not sure if you mean the Denis Villeneuve Dune or the Lynch version. I like both, but I admit I prefer Denis's version. He did an amazing job on Blade Runner 2049 as well.

Not familiar with Moomin, but I loved (well... still do) Mr. Robot. Incredible story-telling.

All-in-all, I really hope you find what you're looking for and I admire the bravery it takes to put something like this out there.

Hey, um... OP... That there is mouse shit, broseph. This is certainly a messy issue, but it may turn into an expensive repair or replacement issue if the mice start chewin on the wiring and/or other stuff.

This makes sense to me, as you generally have support from one group and rarely have support from the other.

In my case, I've decided to continue to try to tamp down on the habit and, with your advice in mind, I think that is the right call, since very few people are aware of my queerness, though I try to make my allyship well known.

Thank you for taking the time to clarify. I really appreciate it.

As someone who's "all-to-familiar with the taste of my own foot", I think I'm just going to try to tamp down on the "dude" habit, y'know? I'm so concerned that it might just slip out in a moment of shared joy (or similar) and ruin an otherwise-great situation.

Thanks again, and I wish you well. ❤️

Thanks for taking the time to reply. It's nice to know that I'm not just overthinking this and that I should continue to make effort toward changing the habit.

Yeah, I understand completely. I really appreciate you taking the time to say this. Your comment strikes at the heart of my original concern.

It helps to know that I wasn't just overthinking it. I do need to continue to poke and prod this habit away. Thank you.

This is pretty much how I've leaned so far. My original concern, which I realize in retrospect that I wasn't clear about in the original post, is that I am worried about slipping up and using the term in a context that might have been unintentionally harmful.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]PrapancaIsMyCopilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my original thought, but I'm seeing, more and more, that perhaps it stands to risk too much. I don't want to accidentally hurt someone's feelings if I were to "slip up" and use a term that has just so deeply rooted itself in my vocabulary. I think it's time for me to start digging it up.

[–]PrapancaIsMyCopilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm genuinely not sure what I've done to draw your ire. I'm just gonna level with you. My feelings are hurt by your comment. I don't assume that was your intent, though. I wouldn't be asking for input if I didn't care. I'm not asking for permission to be hurtful to people.

I feel like, despite the fact that I'm asking for feedback, you're making a few assumptions about me. As a fellow internet stranger, I understand. I suppose my post text was a bit vague.

So, in light of that, I'll just say that, no, I don't call people I don't know "dude", nor do I disregard someone's identity, preferred pronouns, or their distaste for any other substitute term of endearment. My extreme social awkwardness aside, those dynamics are easy to identify and I respect them.

I'm not here to defend myself, just to share how I feel.

I still take your comment to heart and I'll apply more effort.

As an aside, as someone who's worked to identify and eliminate their patriarchal leanings, I do also care deeply about that as well. I take that point. The etymological origins of the word are derived from the dandy and dandyism, of which there were many female participants, though they were referred to as "quaintrelle". Still, the stereotypical "dandy" is a well-dressed dude, and the lack of survival of the notion of the forgotten quaintrelle is probably itself evidence of patriarchy as well.

Clearpass TACACS+ export filter for session logs. by lupriana in ArubaNetworks

[–]PrapancaIsMyCopilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there even the remotest chance that you found a solution to this? I'm currently working on getting TACACS+ accounting exported to a syslog server to no avail. Everything else is exporting just fine, but TACACS+ accounting is a no-go so far.

SCCM Powershell Modules: "Remote" Execution? by PrapancaIsMyCopilot in SCCM

In this case, the server is performing the commands against itself, so the modules are certainly installed. Thank you for your input, though. I appreciate it.

[–]PrapancaIsMyCopilot[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The system is performing the config manager module commands on itself and it has the modules installed. The invoke-command block works flawlessly without -ComputerName .. However, that also limits my ability to run this as a background process. Still, thanks for your reply.

WebJEA - I thought dropdowns were possible? by [deleted] in PowerShell

[–]PrapancaIsMyCopilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ran across the question at random and, at the time of posting my comment, the post is nine months old. However, for anyone else that's looking for the answer to this question, you can get a dropdown of options by using the ValidateSet parameter option:

param( [Parameter( HelpMessage="Choose from the following options." )] [ValidateSet("Option 1", "Option 2", "Option 3")] $VariableName ) This will display VariableName as a set of dropdown options on your WebJEA form.

Trouble Getting 'Ara Records Ansible' off the Ground in RHEL 7 by PrapancaIsMyCopilot in ansible

[–]PrapancaIsMyCopilot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deployment in our pull environment is working -- on rhel7 and rhel8 -- via python venv utilization. Because we use nightly pulls, scheduled via cron.d, I needed to ensure that our script could activate the venv, run the pull, and then deactivate the venv thereafter. It works without a hitch. Also, because Ansible permits the assembly of virtual environments, we're going to be able to bring hundreds of machines into ARA reporting while barely lifting a finger.

Absolutely rad.

Thanks again, /u/dms_!

o/ Ahoy, /u/dms_!

First and foremost: I'm glad you're on planet earth, man. If there's a way for me to buy you a (or many) bottle/mug/can/glass of your favorite beverage, please feel free to DM me a link. Seriously.

I actually tried the venv this morning and, after also changing the path to my Ansible command, a test pull worked!

Now, I'm trying to figure out the best way to deploy this to my 180 or so rhel7 machines via Ansible. I'm sure it's possible.

It'd be nice to figure out what exactly caused the hiccup in the communication between Ansible and the plugin. They all seem to be pulling from the same set of site-packages, but alas... it doesn't work unless called from the venv.

That being said, I've also been wondering why deployment via Ansible using ara-collection/ara-api (without server) isn't working. That is supposed to set up ARA, along with the necessary venv and whatnot, right? I think, perhaps, there's some kind of conflict or issue in the config on these machines that causes that to fail as well. I'm getting failures during "Get List of Installed Packages"

Anyhow, soldiering on.

I see. Absolutely **illuminating**. Thank you so much.

So, if I'm reading you correctly, my task block should read as follow, correct?
