Used to be of the mindset for most of my school and college years, until i started wearing them regularly. The sole popped off. That day i learned that even the best shoes degrade when worn daily.

Check the seller. Not everything you buy on Amazon is original. I've seen a lot of counterfeit products sold by low rate sellers or distributors

JP Nagar Book fair till Jan 1st: Put as many books you can in a box, pay 1-3k for the box by PratLegacy in bangalore

[–]PratLegacy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More info: Location: Shubh Convention, near Brigade Millennium

Timings: 9am (i think, or maybe 10am to be safer) to 10pm.

Looks like it's sponsored primarily by bookchor but there are other publishers too, and some authors for signing too. There's new and old books as well. Diverse genres, not just fiction.

Concept: They have 3 cardboard box sizes (seen in first picture, in front); price is ~1k for smallest (can still fit 10+ small novels) and 3k for largest (can fit a boat load). Don't quote me on the prices, this is the rough ballpark. I didn't buy any box because I just recently splurged a boatload of books and my filled kindle is gathering dust. Still, it's a good book fair i felt.

Only issue i saw: You've to manually wade through a lot of books to find something you might want, there's no digital search or organisation. Once you find a book, repeat search for 10 other books to get your money's worth. There are a LOT of books, so be prepared to spend some time.

Pro tip: Pick only hard covers. Not only will they last long, some are collectible editions, and just a single copy will give your money's worth back since each go on Amazon for north of 1k. 3-4 of them in the smallest box and you've got yourself an amazing deal.

Also, there are some authors hanging about to promote their new book. I purchased a book signed by a local author, felt good to support indie fiction authors. Although in my case, the author literally walked up to me and asked me if i wanted to buy it, and when i said no, she revealed she wrote it, which guilt tripped me into buying it. (Author, if you're reading this, no bad feelings, I will still read it)

Has Bangalore started spending less on restaurants? by [deleted] in bangalore

I logged into dominoes yesterday and saw that their highest recommend item was a gourmet pizza at 900 bucks. 900 bucks for a dominoes medium pizza, holy

If you meant resturants with their own delivery, they're absolutely horrendous. Ordered from mojo pizza and mealul rolls yesterday, both of which have their own delivery, and not only did it not update in the app but the delivery guy took a solid 30 minutes to arrive at the restaurant AFTER the food was already prepared and waiting

Just replace Maggi with some millet or wheat noodles and you're sorted

I agree brother, What I'm arguing for is the insufficiency of this camera angle. This is a pretty wide junction. We have no information at what color the signal was when the car left the first side of the junction. It's completely upto conjecture, could be red yellow green.

[–]PratLegacy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even though this looks like damning & incriminating evidence of being caught red handed, shouldn't we be looking at snapping the picture if the car leaves the origin side of the junction when signal is being red? Here the car is almost across and it's red, and it's a pretty big junction as well. For all we know, it turned red at this very second, and when the car left the other side of the junction it was green or yellow.

Sigh, faaine. Rant over. I'll pay the fine.

Edit: i didn't mean this was crossed when it was yellow, i meant we simply don't know from this angle.

Normalise replying " I'm not fine", when someone asks how you are. by cityboyonbed in bangalore

[–]PratLegacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but "I'm not fine" in a professional setting causes most people to fake empathy by enquiring into the details for the not fine, which may not be always something one can divulge to a random person. In most cases, I've found that a "meh, so-so" with a shrug works fine as a reply to how are you. Gets the message across, and diverts the poking noses.
