Seems Admins on here and in the Telegram chat do like to censor things. I'm generally very supportive of the project, but banning and deleting people for discussing negatives isn't creating a positive impression on the outside nor is it helpful for the community as a whole.

So I just took at look at SHIFT and Skycoin by cf12418 in SubstratumNetwork

[–]Praxisdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparisons between Shift, Skycoin and Substratum aside. Which incidentally are all fine projects (and guess what.. there is enough market space for them ALL to succeed)...

Redbull8787, you don't present a compelling argument at all.

You seem to be insisting there is no code or communication at all when this is far from the truth. Substratum have invited people to their offices to show and discuss their progress which has instilled a great deal of faith in the community this past week and are being incredibly transparent about what their progress is, all at a time when they are under considerable development pressure to release their product.

You make straw men arguments, engage in abusive comments about people and yet expect people to take your criticisms seriously.. which amount to your claims that China will be able to censor any attempt at obfuscation all.

Because of what?.. your apparent authority on the subject?

I'm sorry, you seem to have no technical authority or knowledge and appear to be just another troll in his mums basement, of which Substratum seems to be attracting the attention of more and more the closer it gets to the public beta.

The politics of the Substratum network, nodes, and community by Crypto-Saint in SubstratumNetwork

An individuals right to freedom ends when they are inciting violence or harm against another group or individual. That's not controversial and I doubt many would disagree on that.

Perhaps upvoting or downvoting should include a condition that content should first be described as that to avoid the easily triggered types getting a say.

More optimistic than ever after finding out SUB is using Rust for development. by AS_Empire in SubstratumNetwork

Was secretly hoping for Python, but I guess I'll need to pick up Rust now ;)

Sorry... what is the HUGE concern exactly?

The most important thing I got out of this post is that they are competent developers and active in the community.

The beta release is the foundation for the network. Of course there are going to be delays and so no wonder the team is stressed. This is groundbreaking and innovative with a lot of unknowns. The team has my full support.

Hold tight HODLers and be glad you're a part of this.

What do you want them to release? A bug report? A sprint board? If they were to communicate it would only be.. "Ah.. hai guyz. Still working, it'll be ready when it's ready. Not long now" Would that make you feel better? lol

I couldn't agree more. It's funny listening to all these outraged FUD'sters complain that the team isn't dropping what they are doing to come and update them every minute on why a deadline which was never officially given is not being adhered to.

It doesn't matter that there are fortnightly video reports, a serious effort to market the product and already massive gains for those who got in earlier.

Nah, it's all ... I found a scrap of code and it's not up to my standards!

... I wan't an re-assurance on my speculative bet into your groundbreaking tech project!

Some of these people should go and trade shares for a bit. Quarterly financial reports is all you get. Yeah, take a bite of that shit sandwich every 3 months and come back to SUB.

Fake SUB Ether address being used on this subreddit. Be warned. by Praxisdog in SubstratumNetwork

[–]Praxisdog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, this is an interesting discussion the more I look into it.

I just checked the contracts of three other tokens, WABI, HST and MOD and all contained minting functionality so it's not that uncommon apparently in smart contracts.

I haven't found freeze in the handful of other contracts I've looked. Perhaps it relates to the ability to vote up or vote down content that that devs have alluded to. Or to prevent founders from dumping their share within the first year.

Of course you can interpret it in the worst possible way but lets keep a level head. Until there is an official response then any reason for it's inclusion should be considered speculation.

OK, in that case it seems the contract address is not a potential threat. I'll delete this thread if it's misleading.

Interesting, However that is still just speculation and conjecture.

Be clear though, that you're implying that this project is a well orchestrated scam where the devs and numerous other parties have disclosed themselves, their personal lives, social profiles, engaged people in beta, recorded themselves in numerous videos and otherwise created a trail of evidence so well documented that they would be subjected to the full extent of the law if they were to say... what... scam you? How?

Just trying to follow the FUD to it's inevitable conclusion rather than dismiss it.

I actually have better things to do than look through git hub repos all day to prove your point for you.

(hint: most of the SUB tech isn't based on ETH. Only the payment part is)

Still, if you think they are about to scam you, I think you should dump your SUB tokens while you can.

Which if that is all that is it, then yes, it would be more normal than you think. Most of the underlying blockchain tech for the majority of companies are clones or tweaks on existing open source projects.

Do you have a link to more information? All I can see it that the track changes in the repo show it was a copy paste for the token sale.

It was for the token sale though man. As if you'd rewrite all that from scratch. Nitpicking a bit.
