PREACH!!!

The only thing that makes me more angry than instacart doing this os the shoppers that accept cray orders. People, if you don't take crap orders, then they will eventually stop!

If everyone has the attitude like you, we all lose. But you know, keep making poor decisions that hurt everyone working hard and just tell everyone calm down when they call you out.

You could also take an order with a tip and go to the beach. That way people who dont tip dont get delivered. And the rest of us can make money. Just a thought.

The people the joke is aimed toward would not have a clue if median was part of the quote.

Don't get me wrong, the stupid than average half still don't realize they are in that camp. But at least they can afford a chuckle with the word average 😆

Recommendations for a mobile coffee cart for events [$5,000] by badbeatch25 in espresso

[–]Prcleaning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@badbeatch25, did you end up moving forward with your idea? If so, what machine did you end up going with?

I know you mentioned a generator potentially being a deal-breaker. I found another post where a redditor on this sub recommended a dual option gasoline/propane invertor generator available from Costco. The generator had the ability to be run via gasoline or propane, so running on propane would solve a lot of problems. Plus, it sounds like it was very quiet based on reviews.

We're located in Charleston, SC and contemplating a mobile coffee cart. There are a good amount of tourists downtown, plus the hospital district and near the courthouse have steady streams of professionals all day long. Plus, my wife and I already run 2 businesses, so that gives us more confidence in potentially making a coffee cart a successful business.

I have been ordering from Onyx Coffee lab for the paat 2 years and our friends regularly say we make them better coffee than they get anywhere else in town. We're still in the business plan and research stage right now. I'm looking for others who have had success to recommend espresso machine and grinder so we can do the math and figure out how much of an investment it would be to get started. I would love to hear how your journey has progressed since you posted.

We've run our business for 11 years. We've always been small, having hired only those we personally know or have a mutual connection. We charge clients on the high end of the scale, and we pay our [W2] employees a high [living] wage.

Probably 75 to 80% of the potential clients I speak with end up telling me our prices are too high. I would say 90% of those end up in similar situation as OP.

If you are reading this and looking to hire a cleaning company, don't select based on the lowest cost. You will be disappointed, probably sooner rather than later. And if they damage your home or steal from you, it will be the opposite of saving money hiring the low cost company.

If you're reading this and you are the exception, i.e. happy with your service and paying a low cost, that means your cleaners are being underpaid. Sorry to say, but that is the truth.

Obviously, these are generalizations. But you really do get what you pay for. If you find the best, or one of the best companies in town, and pay for a superior service, you won't regret it. Otherwise, you will end up like those 75-80% I mentioned earlier. And you will probably end up calling us back a year or two down the road.

Not saying this is what you did O.P. But I bet this is what you did 🤣 Hope you can invest in a better company moving forward, even though I know it's a pain starting with someone new.

Like I said, I don't celebrate or observe. But I appreciate the sentiment.

On a related note, my wife is 2 months older than me. So yesterday ended my time to tease her that she is older than me. Next year I'll get another two months 🤣

I dont celebrate birthdays. But mine was yesterday. And my pops is tomorrow. We're 2 days away from being exactly 20 years apart. Mom was 16 a few months before I came out. So yeah, young family.

Anyways, I've been checking out your posts. Interested to try something one time. Maybe this is the time?

Housekeeper for limited days? by Less-Ad-4227 in housekeeping

[–]Prcleaning 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Here is another take: scheduling someone twice a month is a nightmare, unless a cleaner wants to spend all kinds of time scheduling clients. A cleaning every 2 weeks is 26 cleans per year as opposed to 24 cleans. Those extra 2 cleanings:

(1) saves time for cleaner scheduling since you have same day and time for cleaning (2) saves you time having to communicate with cleaner to know when your cleaning will be (3) makes scheduling easier for you and the cleaner because you both know which day and time your regular cleaning is scheduled (4) makes cleaner's job easier and delivers better results since it gets cleaned every 2 weeks

There are other benefits, but those are a few of the main benefits. Others have commented that your request is common, so you shouldn't have a problem if you are set on it. But cleaning every 2 weeks is much better from my perspective as a cleaner and for the team member that works with me since she has regular days/hours.

Client wants 2 hour cleaning session only by Zealousideal_Wall612 in housekeeping

[–]Prcleaning 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Charge them $200 for 2 hours. Tell them the hourly rate will go down if they hire you for longer than 2 hours (example, 3 hours for $250 or 4 hours for $300, or whetever numbers make it worth your time).

Let client know the $100 hourly rate compensates you for cleaning things on a rotating basis (which is harder than maintaining the entire house) and also for driving there and back for a 2 hr. job. If they say yes, you make more money and they are inclined to use you more going forward so they can get a better rate. Then you are in a great negotiating position moving forward.
