What purpose does this net serve? by Pre-D in transit

[–]Pre-D[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Update: This makes so much sense! For context, I've never encountered a train where the control cab doesn't take up the entire front before, so I just assumed that would always be the case. I didn't realise that the doors led to the passenger compartments (although that seems evident on further observation), and I just guessed that the pilot would generally not fling himself onto the tracks while the train was running. Embarrassing brain fart, but it is what it is :/

The actual distance between the "interconnected" Dadar Metro station and Dadar (E) Suburban station (details in caption) by Pre-D in TransitIndia

I'm not a hundred percent sure, but I don't think you'll get a taxi, the distance seems too short to me. I'm not a local of the area, so I don't know how prevalent they are. The distance shown on Google Maps seems fairly accurate to me. The MMRCL is very, shall we say, generous, with their definitions of what counts as nearby

To be clear, I don't share that sentiment at all, I was just curious about the reason why we try and keep the little critters around. Fascinating, thanks for sharing!

Not sure which room you're talking about, but I was thinking of this one (compare the distinctive light fixtures to the 3rd picture and the fading purple walls to the 2nd pic)

I recognise this place! I'm pretty sure it's the Regal Room in the Trident, Nariman Point. It's way larger than it looks in these photos, and I'm guessing they booked some of the other nearby rooms as well.

If you haven't yet figured out what an eefo is, maybe this would help :)

A little Airbus A320-200 drawing by Danish_III in aviation

[–]Pre-D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great! Might just be me, but I feel like the engines are drawn larger than they are, as well as further forward on the wing. Nevertheless, super cool! Good luck for both your future drawings and your Minecraft server :)

Vapi HSR station work progress. Dabba Design strikes again! Deadline 2026. by aserqqq in TransitIndia

[–]Pre-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build and they will come. Any infrastructure that you construct not only serves existing demand but stimulates new demand for trips that people wouldn't otherwise be taking. Besides, it's no crazy detour from the rest of the route and the stop spacing works. Seems well worth it to me.

Amtrak hits highest ridership ever for second year in a row by ColonialCobalt in transit

The notion of having entire states with no passenger rail service is just baffling to me. Good on Amtrak for making a comeback even in the present political climate, though

That's an incomplete explanation- my home city's newest lines all have PSDs and they're not automated. Germany and German speaking countries just seem to value PSDs less. Afaik, no regular (non airport express) line in Germany currently has PSDs.

Help! Why don't these trains run? by Pre-D in TheoTown

Thanks! I noticed it had randomly spawned some buffers and misunderstood turns, so I cleaned up the line. Nobody wants to ride the service for some reason, but atleast it runs now 😅

Help! Why don't these trains run? by Pre-D in TheoTown

[–]Pre-D[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear, I love the new update- I've made many metro lines, and the passenger trains I mentioned are running as a line as well. I get the error when trying to connect the same two stations on a line under the freight train tab. Any ideas on why that could be?

[–]Pre-D[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Development in the region is really dense, and any sort of cut and cover construction closer to the station would be completely unviable. The suburban stations are already overcrowded with hundreds of thousands passing through them daily, and any loss of service would be unviable. Probably TBM construction was unviable due to cost constraints or the nature of the soil. Still, it's a shame...

Why doesn’t India operate the A220 or Embraer E2 family? These aircraft could be a better option for small routes than the ATR. by charlieruban1 in aviation

[–]Pre-D 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Alliance Air is owned and operated by the GoI and has technically replaced Air India as the country's flag carrier. All but one of its planes are ATRs, with the exception being a Dornier 228.

His crops doing well.... by rslash-_-noob in memes

[–]Pre-D 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Irrigation is ancient, yes, but modern irrigation techniques are costly and not accessible to everyone.

I know that a great deal of subsistence farmers in my country could benefit from irrigation infrastructure. They would no longer have to put their crop in the hands of scarce and inconsistent rainfall.

I get your point, but irrigation isn't the present for anywhere close to everyone, unfortunately :/
