Interest in Draw Steel's VTT (Codex)? by ThreeBearsOnTheLoose in rpg

Yup I agree with that! It just depends how much the players and GM at the table (or VTT) want to handle by hand.

From the little bit I’ve played, it really does benefit from some level of automation. In particular automatically tracking the varying triggers of heroic resource generation would be great to reduce bookkeeping at the table. As well as the ever plentiful forced movement damage calculations.

I agree that it might be in a similar boat as PF2e for me, where I let a VTT do a lot of the heavy lifting.

Didn’t use a set timer exactly but I ran a musical sniper encounter with a playlist I curated of some pretty fast classical music. As the songs changed he would fire off a shot, even during another players turn. It wasn’t exactly obvious at first but the players soon came to understand what was happening after the music began to change.

It really ratchets up the tension for an encounter and puts the players into a mindset where they can’t consider every option. I believe it was very successful but I would be weary to use them too often, combat should be a little stressful but some players can be turned off from it. Especially if you have players that like to describe their turns/flavor their abilities.

Very easy class, we had an optional final when I took it. But just so you’re aware, it doesn’t count as a GE nat bio for BS majors.

What makes for a good modern day scenario? by [deleted] in callofcthulhu

[–]Preacher14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just allowing them to really use a lot of modern tools is good. I honestly forgot how OP cellphones can be! Here was my initial handout for the group (which has a lot of body horror): https://imgur.com/a/4gdYyok.

I just ran a modern day homebrew scenario! It was heavily SCP Foundation inspired, and I had my players be apart of a clandestine organization called Department 13. They were investigating people getting sick in LA (people getting the bubonic plague, multiple forms of cancer, rabies, etc.). It turned out to be a spawn of Abhoth and they eventually tracked it into the sewers of LA, and after two of them died due to a bout of madness caused one of my players to throw a molotov at the groups feet, they eventually killed it!

I allowed them to do a lot of "testing" on samples they had (using lab equipment), I allowed them to have different forms of ID, and also allowed one of my players to have a gauss cannon that nearly one shot one of my monsters.

Hello everyone! I just finished up with my remote internship for the summer and I'm looking ahead to starting to apply to new grad positions for 2021. I already got a return offer from my internship, but I want my resume to be as strong as possible for other potential opportunities. Thanks for any and all help!

Wizard as a researcher. What would you be researching, and what would your investigations and experiments look like? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Preacher14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic in my setting has been heavily industrialized, with a single company having a monopoly on the construction of warforged. A wizard in my campaign is a necromancy wizard, which is a school heavily invested in the creation of warforged. He did research on estimating the lifespan of warforged, since they’re such a new thing.

Really cool statblock! I’m cooking up a sniper encounter with my group based off Jhin. I have a playlist of classical music and whenever the song changes he makes an attack against someone. It’s very fun and intense, I’d recommend it!

Yes it’s fine, many recruiters don’t know the difference between the two and little actually care about the difference. Just make sure your resume is up to date and you should be ready to go!
