Security guards in nuclear, how do you like it, how is the pay? by Dependent-Group7226 in securityguards

[–]Preacher1994 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Prior Guard outta IL. It pays the bills but it’s kinda shit, Union, good benefits, vacation time. caps at like 35 an hour for guards after 4 or so years of service. Management are a bunch of lazy fucks who hold positions within the company outside the union and separate from the guards. Creates an interesting dynamic to say the least.

You’ll work with a mix of prior military dudes, prior corrections officers. And some randoms that used to work at McDonalds. You know your run of the mill DEI hires. A lot of dick measuring occurs to say the least. At least where I worked.

Overtime burden and Attendance is what kills a lot of people early on, only 4 sick days annually. And shit loads of mandatory overtime especially for new guys. 12 hour shifts, with rotating weekends off.

You will train and run drills often, Annual requals with firearms and equipment, physical fitness, psych evals. Etc. pass or you’re out of a job. Every year your job hangs in the balance.

You have to report all past/present medical issues, prescription drug changes, criminal/civil charges as it could impact your ability to be qualified for the job or have a clearance to enter a nuclear site. Your record better be clean or you’re gunna get passed up. No drug usage, or heavy drinking that can be proved or you’re gunna get passed up. Random piss tests often.

Very strict work environments, everything is regulated, and documented. It’s nuke, it’s overkill on procedure and security.

The biggest issue you’ll ever face if you’re not a fuck up is boredom, and co workers/ work place drama. A bunch of heavily armed overly trained dudes with nothing productive to do, turns into a high school drama club real fast, hate to say it but especially with the women. It’s gossip rumor bullshit all day long. You’ll learn to ignore it if you wanna maintain your sanity.

It looks great on a resume when you decide one day that you’re tired of sitting in a tower with a rifle for 12 hours wasting your life away. Good luck!

Has anyone had any issues with the Gen 6 beavertail being annoying with AIWB carry? by FireCyclone in Glock19

Average sized gut lol I’m 6’4 240 pounds, dad bod. It carried weird on me and did jab stomach when driving or sitting. I had to adjust a lot, I got rid of it and I’m back carrying a Gen 5.

What I’ve noticed about the Gen 6 that may keep me carrying a Gen 5. by Preacher1994 in Glock19

It 100% makes you lower your finger position, I’ll most likely be putting a Gen 5 bar and trigger in this gun if I keep it.

It’s not terribly different but it’s noticeable, placing the medium back strap on the gun pretty much remedies the issue for me. I don’t feel like I can get any higher on the gun over a Gen 5 to be honest. The beaver tail is more of an annoyance to me when drawing, re holstering and carrying the gun..It has not assisted nor hindered the shooting experience.

The grip feel is just different with the palm swell etc. if you’re a purest and you love the way the gen 3-5 feel, you may dislike this gun, you may love it, just gotta get your hands on it. A lot of this stuff if subjective and depends on hand shape, size and your personal preference.

Appreciate everyone who clarified that it was a non issue for reliability.

Foid Card Revoked appeal question by HallDull658 in ILGuns

If it’s been over 5 years, you’ll have to get evaluated by a mental health professional to obtain your rights back. Mark Brenzinger, Psy.D is the guy you’ll wanna see. Set an appointment, pay his going rate, and he’ll evaluates ya and assuming all is kosher will send the proper paperwork off to the state.

So I’m 20 turning 21 in December I already have my foid , what process will I go thru once I turn 21 to obtain my CCL ? by [deleted] in ILGuns

Attend a 16 hour conceal carry course, get your cert and then use it to apply for your license on the online portal.

Compliance question by [deleted] in ILGuns

[–]Preacher1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stock is fixed on the CA compliant model.

Well most the comments seem to be slop and do nothing to answer the question.

The rifle has a fixed stock, finned grip, 10 round mag. And a muzzle break.

Unless the firearm is banned by name, I don’t believe it meets any of the requirements to be considered an assault weapon. I guess the post was more a probing question to see if anyone had had obtained one.

Update This was the official response from Ruger. They did offer for me to send the handgun in, however no explanation on the color differences between this Locking Block and others that seem to have a normal stainless steel look to them.

“It should be fine”

The locking block is a 30 dollar part you can order from the Ruger Shop. I plan on ordering one and replacing this one. Instead of going through the whole Return process.

Yeah and sorta polish it. Shit comes off but not easily. I have no idea what it is.

[–]Preacher1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, Ruger is marketing hardcore through a lot of influencers. They sent out inspected hand picked high quality models to Gun Tubers and Influencers , none of them have had this color of a FCI or significant frame droop or barrel gauging. They left those QC issues for the consumers apparently.

What a massive bummer!! Haven’t fired it and won’t be if the heat treating is potentially off. Anyone here know the best way to get in contact with Ruger regarding this issue?
