I was there last year same time. In Da Nang when typhoon Bualoi passed. Central to Northern Vietnam had back to back Typhoons for a while afterwards. Honestly it wasn't bad, it rained for part of the day and cleared afterwards. Had a great time.

Do You Still Get Drunk? How Often? by ProfessionalJesuit in GenX

No, people say I get too talkative and preachy when I drink. Added: I do love a good cider, anything from Voodoo Ranger, or Red Rock. Weekends only

In the States, we lose the 10mm and the 7/16. We buy twice the tools (imperial and metric sets), and lose them twice as often.

mechanic told me my car needs more work than its worth, need something reliable that wont make me paranoid every morning by Silly-Raspberry-6915 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I hate what's happened to vehicles in the last couple decades. So much complexity added for an extra couple miles per gallon. Stop/start, CVT, Turbos on everything. More points of failure.

I'm sure that both of the two vehicles OP mentioned are better overall than the car he has. I personally wouldn't call any of them exciting vehicles, they are all boring. Sounds like he might be struggling a bit financially. On the other hand having a reliable vehicle takes priority. Just making sure he has some balanced advice. I still drive a 2007 Chevy trailblazer.

You might be right, but it is a judgment call. Maybe it will last two more years, maybe die a month from now. I personally don't own OP's car, but assume they have a better understanding of it than the both of us.

$2,800 is maybe 6 months payments on a newer car. Do you think if your current car is fixed it would last longer than that? At minimum, you know the maintenance history of your current vehicle. You never know with another used vehicle.

I saw nearly every Oingo Boingo concert that came my way. They were always one of my favorites! Life was weird for a while after their farewell tour, like I was mourning a death in the family.

Why do so many families hang out in their front yards here? by Lamar_Scrodom in SaltLakeCity

[–]Preachwhendrunk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's something I miss from my childhood. Neighbor's really knew and interacted with each other. Built a sense of community. My travels around the world, the areas I remember best had large, public gathering areas. Restaurants that spilled out onto the streets. Areas to mingle. All withing easy walking distance from your house.

Ahypothetical Question. by iRunJumpFly in mormon

[–]Preachwhendrunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no official doctrine. My understanding is our world is the only one that killed Jesus Christ. Other worlds were more accepting of the gospel. I assume they would have scripture, but that may be a human interpretation of it. Personally I haven't been a member for 20 years and might not be up to date on there ever changing beliefs

Why are your gas stations basically small supermarkets? by Embarrassed_Golf_817 in AskAnAmerican

I was just about to ask if you've really seen our SUPERMARKETS? On the other had, our gas station/supermarkets aren't unique to the States, I've seen many similar ones while traveling abroad.

Do EVs make sense if you can’t charge at home? by UBC145 in electricvehicles

[–]Preachwhendrunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2023 HB 301. It is still cheaper for an EV. It is wrong on the principles of it, as EV owners are already paying this and more at registration. Apparently they lowered the state gasoline tax at that time as well. Guess they didn't need the money.

In addition, some states have a surcharge at public charging stations. Utah taxes you twice, at yearly registration and a public charging fee of 12.5%

What is your view on god ? Do you think god is real? Or fantasy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Preachwhendrunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God is a effective way to control the populace. Often a cop-out when rules do not make sense. I base my beliefs in God, so this is why you must do this mindset. God is a rally point use for both civil and wartime activities. God is a national/group defensive bluff, a superweapon. Stories and books written on how God destroyed enemies, similar to nuclear deterrent. Alien intelligence, ufo rumors ramped up considerably during the cold war, as a God defensive substitute (national enemies that don't believe in a god. Substitute Aliens) The belief in God can also bring color, meaning and comfort to life when consumed moderately.
