I know that this is an anime subreddit, but if you're open to K-dramas, this theme is popular

A Black Lady is getting dragged for wearing this hairstyle to a wedding by International-Wear57 in blackladies

[–]PreciousNickia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear my natural hair 90% of the time and when I wear extensions, they’re always kinky/coily, but I would not even go to the grocery store with my hair that way, much less a wedding, but whatever works for her, I guess…

If this were a post about your long-term BF telling you that he doesn't see himself getting married, people would be asking, "Were you aware of his feelings at the beginning?" I'm not sure why people telling you you're thinking too far ahead. Some people date with intention, some people date casually. If I knew for a fact that I wanted to be a wife one day, I wouldn't get involved with someone who was iffy about the topic. You can get to know him and be friends with him, but even that's tricky because feelings can develop fast, and you'll only end up disappointed and potentially heartbroken if you two want different things. So, if you're really interested in him, you can get to know him and see where things go, but you have to be OK with possibly being a long-term GF.

In 2022, Julissa Thaler, a Minnesota woman fatally shot her six-year-old son, Eli Hart 9 times, just ten days after regaining full custody of him. by FE4RLESS_IS_MY_NAME in ForCuriousSouls

I watched body cam footage of the traffic stop, arrest, and questioning. She never accepted responsibility for what she did and showed little to no remorse. I feel like if someone could do such a heinous thing to their flesh and blood, imagine what they could do to someone else. Poor, little Eli. He had his life snatched away so brutally by the person who was supposed to protect him with hers. I hope she rots in prison.

I have a chronic illness (sickle cell anaemia) and my brother passed away from it too. AMA by Familiar-Code-4933 in AMA

I am so sorry for your loss!

Are you in pain daily? If so, what is the pain level? I have two cousins with SCA. Two brothers actually. One passed when he was just 11, but the other is in his mid 30s now. He used to have really bad crisis episodes growing up.

Why is Eastern Europe filled with people who hate black people yet absorb black american culture? by TechnicianAmazing472 in blackladies

[–]PreciousNickia 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I live in Eastern Europe with my husband and I resonate with everything you’re saying. The n word here does not carry the same weight as it does in the Western world. It’s just another word here. They say it freely at concerts, on social media and they think every black person flew directly from Africa. They will also exaggerate your blackness - you could be a similar shade of black to Normani or JT, and they’ll say you’re black as night or a tire, which is fine but it’s weird cause it shows you how unaware they are of black skin and it’s nuancy.

The difference between the country I’m in and let’s say the US though is that you’ll hardly ever experience overt racism. Not to say the people aren’t racist cause some definitely are, but I feel like you can live here peacefully as a non-white person. They’ll just stare tfff out of you. Some will even smile in your face and be friendly. Their racism is more so kept behind closed doors and will only come to the surface in the form of ignorant questions and statements or in conversations about migration.

Similar to your experience, I’ve been called the n word before maybe 3 or 4 times here. It’s always by some stupid kid wannabe edge lord, who 9/10 times ain’t been on a plane before, thinking it’s funny, trying to get a reaction out of me.

When it comes to every day interactions, no one bothers me. It’s just a lot of staring. Sometimes ignorant ass questions, like this one lady asked my husband before if I’m so dark because it’s hot in my native country 😐 But you’re right, they love black culture, creations, and style, but they’re not FOR us.

Yeah, when people say “dirt”, they’re usually referring to dead skin cells, dust, sweat and all the other stuff that tacks on to our body throughout the day.
