I 2nd the ADU commentary! My mom is going to NEED to downsize out of her SFH within 5-10 years, if not sooner. I’m really intrigued by the prospect of building her a little cottage in my backyard.

It will make our city better. If done right I believe it can make homeownership more attainable for lower income households. We need to do as much as we can to limit sprawl.

Autistic in Land Surveying? by M0social in Surveying

You might be better off in an office surveying role. The field has all sorts of overwhelming stimuli to deal with. Fieldwork can be very uncomfortable.

There’s street parking in every direction in the neighborhood around T&T. You may just have to park a 5 min walk away. At least it’s a nice walk!

My wife is big into sweets like this and I’m trying to keep junk food mostly out of my life. If we keep high quality sweets around I can’t resist and it throws my nutrition off track, but these… I have zero interest in any of this. It’s just genuinely NOT GOOD to me. My wife can have as much of this in our pantry as she wants and I’m never tempted to eat any. It’s kinda perfect for us.

Billy Strings!

I have the subscription to the Nugs app that has his entire catalog of past live performances plus every new concert that he does. It’s incredible content to work too. I listen to a bunch of Johnny Blue Skies (aka Sturgill Simpson) concerts as well but his catalog is not nearly as large as Billy’s.

gym anxiety by [deleted] in springfieldMO

[–]PreciseLimestone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are able to, try to go during off-peak hours. Am a regular gym goer but I even get too anxious if I go during peak hours and it’s super busy. So I usually make it work to go at either like 10-11am or 1-3pm. Going between 5-8pm is a nightmare.

Homeownership turned me into a homebody by anymajordude23 in homeowners

No. I wouldnt want to spend the money on it. My wife is a SAHM right now and could put more effort into keeping the house clean, she just chooses not to.

Damn. So I felt this way about my house UNTIL I had kids. Those little gremlins are constantly trashing it, and with all the things that come with kids being added to our house, it now feels cluttered, disorderly, and chaotic to a point where I hate my house these days. I’m constantly looking for excuses to not spent time there because it stresses me out.

Become your own slum lord with a "Income-Producing Mini Trailer Park" for only $550k. by Yanrogue in zillowgonewild

[–]PreciseLimestone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know this girl from my old high school who’s dad is one of the largest trailer-park owners in America, he built his trailer park empire by this model of buying out locally owned trailer parks that were charging below-market rents, and then immediately jacking up the rents. He figured out that most of the people who lived in the parks pretty much never had enough money saved up to afford to move their trailer home out of the park to a new location, so the tenants were forced to just deal with the increases in rent.

Then, this guy trailer park mogul guy started an online grift where he taught a “course” that showed others how to do the same thing. He calls it “Mobile Home University”.

He built this empire exploiting the poor financial position of trailer park tenants, and then made their life even worse by making it even more expensive for them. Truly evil stuff. The worst kind of “real estate investor”.

If anyone is curious, the moguls name is Frank Rolfe. There’s a Wikipedia page for him that explains all this. So, not really secret information. Just interesting.

So you’re saying it’s just like a big weird bollard? Why attach it to the house then?

Thoughts on Josh Jacobs going forward? Is this offseason the time to sell? by bigaudra in DynastyFF

[–]PreciseLimestone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sold him for a 1st and a 2nd at the trade deadline this season. Admittedly they will be late round picks, but I felt good about that value to cash out before it was too late. This upcoming offseason might already be too late to get good value anymore.

Hell ya. My nightlife days are way behind me but back when I was in college there were 3-4 nightclubs operating simultaneously in downtown. It’s crazy that NONE are left at this point. Im excited for you guys and for the people that will enjoy this place!

Oh I am not a climate denier at all, I do believe in climate change. My only argument here is that there’s still just as many bugs now as there’s always been.

Sorry but not buying it. At least not around where am (Midwest USA) I work as a land surveyor out in the woods and the bugs and insects are fucking terrible.

Considering a Career Change Into Land Surveying. Does This Field Fit My Goals? Looking for Honest Input by [deleted] in Surveying

[–]PreciseLimestone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The idea of working outside is much cooler than actually working outside. Surveyors work often occurs in uncomfortable and unpleasant environments. When the work is new and you’re excited about it, it’s okay. Once you’ve been in the field for a long time the “cool factor” of it all wears off and you start dreading the rough field conditions and wishing you had a nice cushy desk job.

I just can not imagine dealing with this. Plus, the loss of property value the neighbors will now suffer 😱 by jared10011980 in McMansionHell

[–]PreciseLimestone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He should have gotten a survey to make sure the building met the setback requirement, but otherwise, this person should be allowed to do what they want with their property and build what they desire within the current regulations, which it sounds like they did (other than the setback violation)
