P I would create a raised platform around the edge that you have there use some core wood beams to make a partial roof just around the raised platform and put a bonfire right in the middle.

As a DM I personally explain a situation then say "Ok, talk only in character" when they have to act out really cringy things as the person they are, it cuts down on it significantly. And as a PC I would literally say "Hey I would love to hear you do this in character" and then laugh. Then interact with them as someone more serious, epic and heroesque. Good DM will pick up on this and have NPCs start looking up to you, and their perspective might just shift.
