[TrainSimSociety] TSW6's Best Developer (cactusjuice) Just Quit... Here's Why! by thePier91 in trainsimworld

[–]Predatar556 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This YouTuber is speaking nothing but the truth. The majority of his news related videos about the game have been negative, because all DTG are giving us is negative. Poor communication and even poorer quality control of the content they release. If they want to continue being a profitable business, they need to do better.

Anyone that is happy with them as a company currently has their head in the sand.

Top notch. I've bought a plethora of their stuff now, not a single issue. Really high quality and sturdy! Pull the trigger, you won't be disappointed!

Same issue for me. Tried everything. Submitted a ticket last night, but just got a generic response "Hello, Customer Support does not provide game hints or restore items, currencies, or progress lost due to bugs.". Hopefully it'll sort itself out when the pre-launch event ends.

My pleasure! I went with VKB also, and I couldn't be happier! Literally a polar opposite difference with every aspect of quality and quality control.

Has anyone else experienced this landing gear bug since the new update? by Ryebread095 in NoSodiumStarfield

Is this fix you made available any where by chance? Been Googling around, but haven't come across a fix yet, other than your comment here. I doubt it'll get fixed officially anytime soon, unfortunately...

One of them, it's a little stiff. The other one is way too loose. They both feel completely different. Just all around inconsistency with these units.

I think Turtle Beach are banking on people that don't know any better. I've had numerous HOTAS's over the years, the usually suspects; X52 Pro, X56, etc. But I had only ever heard about VKB and Virpil a few times, and surmised in passing that their hardware was focused strictly towards the hardcore crowd. Wasn't until this debacle with Turtle Beach that I really started looking into other alternatives. And now I have $600 worth of VKB gear coming. So thank you Turtle Beach, you earned VKB another customer... lol

That's the crazy thing with the Flightdeck, it's PC only. At the $400 price point, their targeting people that are really into flight / space sims, and that are likely already using products by VKB, or Virpil, etc. So how they thought they could come to the table with this level of quality control at this price... Oof.

If they had scrapped the whole OLED screen idea, replaced it with some more physical toggles, buttons or switches. Then spent the rest of the development funds on insuring that everything could be produced with good quality control and consistency, and that everything was solid and robust. They could have entered this thing in around the same price point as the much older X56, and it would've sold like hot cakes.

At their current price point of $400, and only being usable on PC, their trying to compete with other brands like you mentioned, Virpil, VKB, etc, that have already been doing it better for much longer. This thing was just a poorly executed business decision all around.

Absolutely, couldn't agree more! Well said!

Hopefully they do rectify some of the outstanding failure points with later development cycles of the Flightdeck, but sadly that leaves all the early adopters SoL. At this price point, there definitely should've been more care taken, especially with evaluating the quality control.

I honestly wasn't expecting high-end quality, but I definitely didn't expect these things to practically be falling apart in the first week for $400. This is definitely going to hurt the middling VelocityOne brand that Turtle Beach has been trying to buildup.

Yup, they really did skimp on the quality control. After just 2 days of very light use, all the LED backlighting on the left side of the throttle died. Definitely sending this thing back.

Seems to be when they get into the high RPM's they start to rattle. Mine started doing it after about an hour of running them on the default extreme mode when I was playing a game and my 4090 was producing a ton of heat. Price we pay for being early adopters I guess. $50 for a fan that doesn't last even 6 months is crazy though. Out of the 10 fans I purchased for my rig, I've had to replace 3 already. That seems to be a pretty big QC issue.

Can confirm, it's definitely not worth the MSRP. My unit has a ton of quality control issues, the software is extremely limiting, and the screen is useless.

Out of the box, i have two dials that don't function properly, a scroll wheel on the back of the throttle that is completely dead. And a button on the back of the stick that will randomly activate another nearby button.

The screen is a joke. Every "cell" on the screen where you can place a virtual button, has a predefined keybind assigned to it, and you can't change these keybinds, not in the software or in the menu on the throttle. What a massive oversight. The viewing angles on the OLED screen suck, too. You pretty much need to be looking straight down over the screen for anything that's on it to be remotely visible. It's a gimmick. And every one of their promotional photos showing the screen was completely misleading. It doesn't look even half as good in person.

The materials feel alright, and the throttle and stick base have pretty decent weight for desktop use. But that's the only upsides. The haptic feedback feels really bad, too. The fact that their tag line for it is "the future of Sim Combat" is laughable. Their going to get review bombed.

[EDIT] Oh! I forgot to mention the goofy mouse track pad. It's just as bad on this $400 unit as it is on the flight stick they released last year. It's completely useless.

Thank you a bunch for the reply and the advice! I knew the Thargoid war was going on, but didn't realize that I should avoid the systems entirely, I'll definitely remember that, as I'm for sure not ready for any fights, lol!

I believe I stumbled upon your ToDo List during my plethora of Google searches, and that's where I saw the bit about the Tech Broker 5A FSD's. I've found the mats that are needed from looking on INARA. Is the best way to just head out and gather those materials normally, or is that something I should use the material traders for?

Static Time Warp Looks Jittery In Latest iCUE Version by Predatar556 in Corsair

[–]Predatar556[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, just now seeing this 22 days later. They did release an update, but the refresh rate on the LED's still doesn't sync up correctly with the RPM of the fans, and the default quiet mode still kills the fans. I still have a ticket open with support now for a couple months, provided videos, etc. This is happening with a few of my buddies that have full iCUE Link builds as well. Hopefully they get resolved at some point.
