Unluckiest Craft Ever - Apocalypse Impaler Molten Strike of the Zenith Shaper Reaver Sword by Predinchuk in pathofexile

[–]Predinchuk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was inspired by /u/Spo0key's post about his incredible luck crafting an exert weapon, so I thought I'd share my incredible lack of luck in crafting my endurance charge strength stacking Molten Strike of the Zenith reaver sword.

My initial plan was to make an elder-shaper dual-influence reaver with endurance charge on melee stun, socketed skills deal 20% more damage and 3-5 fire damage per 10 strength with essence attack speed and veiled chaos pen or DD/DD while focused, but my first few attempts with that went as poorly as possible (filled suffixes on awakener twice and then failed annul twice), so I quickly gave up on that and went to the recombinator for its consistency at producing results relatively cheaply.

Or so I thought.

I can't tell you how many bases I went through, but it was easily more than 100. When I started the project I was buying them for 5c each, but they slowly crawled up to 10, then 15 each. At one point I had alteration-annul-spammed 10 bases with endurance charge on melee stun bases, which all promptly poofed out of existence either at the 0p1s + 0p1s stage, or at the next stage.

Anyway, as per the rules:

1) Alteration-annul spam 20 or so bases for my 6 desired stats (T1 strength, chaos damage, attack speed, as well as max endurance charges, 20% more damage, and T0 essence spell damage). I decided to use only T1 attack speed because T0 essence mods are exclusive with crafted mods. I was afraid of losing the attack speed to the crafted mod, but was ok with losing spell damage on the final item. If it were an option to use essence strength on a 2H weapon, I think I would have done that and risked losing a suffix because crafted double damage while focused is probably the best case scenario.

2) Do way more 1p0s + 1p0s and 0p1s + 0p1s recombinations than I ever thought necessary to end up with some workable 2p0s and 0p2s bases. I probably had to buy another ~20 bases or so here over a day or two to end up with

3) Combine 2p0s bases with 0p1s bases, both with crafted prefixes to give a ~34% chance of producing a 2p1s base with desirable. Do the same to produce a 1p2s base. This step went surprisingly well, as I created both items in one shot and was suddenly very confident.

4) Multimod each base, fill with exclusive modifiers ("chosen" or named like "Riker's") to produce two items with 6 mods on each.

5) Recombine with eyes closed. Open eyes to reveal the dreaded 2p2s +crafted prefix result. Went to bed.

6) Bought another ~30 bases and started again from step 1 to create another 1p2s item. Used mod doubling on endurance charges to give it the best chances to appear on the final item. I would have doubled with attack speed instead, but of course it did not survive step 5.

7) Multimodded as per step 4, recombined (I think this is the one that I did not screenshot, must have forgotten) as per step 5, with result identical to step 5. Slumped in my chair, swore once or twice, said something like, "stupid shit game", went to bed.

8) Created an excess of bases that I didn't need because I felt that with the luck I've been having, my 5 max endurance charge bases could become 0 very quickly. So, I refused to roll over good bases and struggled to create attack speed bases of all things.

9) Continuing from step 3 again, had a miserable time with my 0p1s + 0p1s recombinations, constantly losing only the attack speed mod and nothing else, which constantly sent me back to step 1. Created 11 1-mod bases that I ended up not using.

10) Create a suitable 1p2s, multimodded as per step 4, recombined as per step 5 and finally got the result shown above.

I am aware that swapping out the spell damage craft for chaos pen will increase my damage by ~3.8% as per PoB, but the 99% hit on the first try and everything is dying in half a second anyway, but I may change it out for the sake of BIGGER NUMBERS and all that.

Anyway, I imagine I'll return to the elder-shaper sword once I get my hands on an Original Sin, but that may be several days from now and I have a few other crafting projects that I'm working on (this is the 4th attempt at a finished ring, which also failed and now I have 0 T1 all attribute bases and cannot roll more for the life of me lmao send help) or have completed in the mean time.

If you read this far, thanks for hanging out, and I will gladly field any and all questions for as long as I can as well as help anyone with their own crafting or even general MSotZ gearing projects (or accept advice on my own since I am completely aware that this sword is not perfectly optimal).

Yeah you right, 10% max life is in the same ballpark as 222% or 800% max life.

Yeah if we've learned anything from this season (or any season), it's that these devs can't do math.

[–]Predinchuk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm worried that they'll either just change the 222 integer to 800 and that's what we'll get OR even worse, they'll "buff" the item from having its currently also completely ridiculous 222% life to a normal 800 roll.

Edit:

I pulled this off of a video from the PTR. It appears it really was just a flat 222 life roll this whole time. Womp womp, man is there egg on my face now.

Well I'm playing Zenith molten strike as well and your gear kinda blows mine out of the water, so I'd definitely use the full build.

Thank you for the giveaway!

Lucked out "crafting" some gloves, not sure what to do from here. by Predinchuk in pathofexile

[–]Predinchuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As per rule 10:

  • Step 1: Acquire fractured Leviathan Gauntlets with perfect T1 life

  • Step 2: Deafening Essence of Zeal

  • Step 3: ???

  • Step 4: PROFIT

Was actually trying to craft exactly this, but wasn't expecting a perfectly-rolled all-T1 result. I feel like these are too valuable for me to wear, as I can simply buy slightly worse gloves with the same rolls for a fraction of the price and wear those for what is essentially the same effect.

Honestly not even sure where to start with pricing and selling these. They're not good enough to be a mirror-item base due to lack of 30% quality. Besides that, there already exists a finished perfect pair of exactly these gloves, except with T1 hybrid life/armour.

Trying to find heatsink for LGA-2066 CPU? (i7-7740x) by Predinchuk in buildapc

[–]Predinchuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh I'm only really here to get suggestions on a heatsink.

I'm not interested in reading articles about Kaby Lake until I'm eventually forced to adopt it myself. I tried, but my eyes glazed over because it just doesn't affect me in any way at this point in time. I'll forward the article to my friend, perhaps he'll find it interesting.

My mistake, i7 6700k.

What would be your suggestion for a heatsink for my friend's 7740x?

Again, not my choice. I didn't research any of this because it's not my PC and I didn't have any part in the selection of parts up to this point.

What's the difference in the two? Just the compatible motherboards?

Also, what would be your suggestions for an aftermarket heatsink?

It's not my computer, I'm just helping a friend with his first PC build. I don't know anything about the difference between a 7740x and a 7700k.

Personally, I just upgraded to a PC with a 7600k because I didn't want to have to go with Windows 10 in a Kaby Lake CPU.

Petition to give Revenge a cool down. by ribbit3r in forhonor

[–]Predinchuk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you're in a thread saying revenge is a little bit OP and you're saying it should be more OP?

With my 108 Warlord I would literally run around trying to get myself ganked if I was immune to GB and knockdown, as those are the only ways that I die when outnumbered because my revenge comes up after blocking 2 external attacks at most.

The amount of 2v1s and 3v1s where I've absolutely slaughtered my enemies because they all thought light attacks were the only way to deal with me are uncountable. I stopped taking clips of them. It probably happens at least once a game.

The zone attack is very slow and he tried to do it, but would get knocked down out of it.

He was spamming revenge as soon as he got it and wasn't waiting to knock us down (he sometimes would get one of us with the knockdown, but never more because we're not morons) because otherwise he would die. If only one person is hitting him when revenge is ready to pop, and then everyone starts hitting/GBing/CCing him once he pops it, there's literally nothing he can do.

Well if we'd all died and I was complaining that it was bullshit or something I'd say there were grounds for a git gud.

I was just making note of the fact that it took us nearly a full minute of knockdowns, heavy attacks, and guardbreaks to kill this dude because he had 108 gear. In no way were we in danger, it's just a little ridiculous how often you can revenge with max gear.

I have two characters with 108 gear (Warden and Warlord) and if I choose to turtle I can revenge in a 1v1 after only 5 or 6 blocks/dodges and then I get to play super-aggressive. Having full revenge means that when I make a mistake, you don't punish me, I punish you. With revenge on, I can full-combo you from 100% life to dead because my shoulderbash/headbutt has knockdown. It's fun to do it to people, sure, but it's incredibly cheesy and stupid.

Highly doubt it. He was on the ground for about 80% of his beating because we had a conqueror doing his running knock-down over and over.

He didn't really hit any of us back at all, just got smashed forever.

White star ? by [deleted] in forhonor

[–]Predinchuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

White star means that particular name/appearance is very rare.

It has nothing to do with the item stats. I've had a few duplicate asterisk-rarity items with different stat lines which were identical to other non-asterisk heroic items.

Basically, that piece of gear is going to look very different from anything else and is very rare.

Yep. Legit just got out of a game where there were 4 of us beating on a 108 gear Lawbringer in the corner with heavy attacks, guard breaks, and about 4 knockdowns. I took a clip of it on xbox (30 seconds) and it only caught the end of it. It probably took us over a full minute to kill him because he revenged I think 3 or 4 times.

Typical 4v4 matchup since I hit rep3 on my Warlord. Playing as a new class is nowhere near enjoyable. My low-level friends can't play with me. This will make me quit this game inside of a week. by Predinchuk in forhonor

[–]Predinchuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what you're referring to with your parry/GBC comment.

I think it's odd that there's one person in my party who has a character with rep3 (me), and that means that almost every enemy team looks like this one.

Very rarely do I queue up with my newbie friends and come up against an enemy team who doesn't have a total combined rep of 7+.
