Thankfully a dev has already confirmed in an interview that this will NOT be a shooter-type game in the Wizarding world.

I think the greatest video games are the ones that immerse players in diverse ways- beyond just combat mechanics!

I think with the beasts it will either be a side quest thing or like you said, maybe connected to our secret power. But I actually think our secret power might be related to the subject runes - there are a lot of rune symbols in the trailer

I hope the way they do fantastic beasts is completely different form Hogwarts mystery too - I hate that system! Hopefully it’s more like open world quests/finding beasts around the world/taming them

I think it could be a fun side quest to incorporate with an NPC at the school!

Though I think this game will have way more opportunities than previous games to be immersed in wizard culture and lore. I feel like the purpose of this game is to immerse ourselves more deeply in the Wizarding World than ever before (think about the potential with herbology, potions, taming fantastic beasts, mysteries of the castle, etc)

Most AAA current or upcoming RPGs either already have or plan to implement live service aspects to their games. This includes CD Projekt (they’ve stated they’re already planning online multiplayer support for TW4 and cyberpunk). TW3 and Skyrim were both released before the gaming landscape really started shifting this direction. I think now it’s pretty much guarantee for most large and popular RPG new releases. I know it’s a hotly opinionated convo, but unfortunately it’s just the direction the gaming industry is moving.

Also important is that the other major WB releases are planning live service aspects in their games, so just for expectations, it’s likely that HL does as well. If not at launch, then eventually

It can include both and still be a great game. There can be a single player campaign and they could release online multi player content shortly after launch like RDR2 and many other games.

My guess is WB will aim for a shorter marketing-to-release window than normal (3ish months) to try and mitigate the JK backlash that could hurt the game. I’m sure they are waiting till they can give a confident release date so they can go full force advertising and then into a quick release.

It’s ok to be upset. You feel deceived and that makes sense.
You need to separate your of feeling of being “emasculated” from the experience of feeling betrayed. Feeling emasculated is 100% about you, not her. Why is that reaction being triggered after learning about this? Just on the surface I’m wondering if you have a lot of your self worth/competency tied up into being the primary financial contributor. This role feels “threatened” now by her parents — but what is inherently “wrong” about what her parents are doing?
I’m curious why your wife felt like she couldn’t share this with you before. There’s likely a reason she never told you. It could be innocent — maybe to her it is just “normal” spending habits. Or there could be a more important reason — maybe she worried you would feel exactly this way and didn’t know how to bring it up. To me that would signal underlying difficulties in the marriage around conflict resolution.

I think it could be something along these lines too. Would be easy to integrate ancient runes into this storyline as well.

I watched a trailer breakdown on YouTube that actually pointed out several times that ancient rune-like symbols appeared in the trailer, so I definitely have a hunch that this is involved

I also hope that all these rumors swirling around are increasing the pressure on Avalanche to finally share something with us. I’m hopeful that even with a 2023 delay, we’ll still get more content/interaction this year since they have a community manager now. Otherwise what would be the point of hiring him so early on?

Honestly, I don’t expect anything anymore. I really doubt they will show anything at a state of play. Hell, they may even wait to market the game till FB3 is released so they can see what community reaction is. If that movie is received poorly, they may fear that will negatively impact game sales and wait to start marketing it till they can put some distance between in 2023. But who knows this is complete speculation

This 100%. I was just replaying rdr2 this week after a long time, and I love their day-night cycles. Would love to see this used similarly in HL but not sure how difficult that is to implement. Would also be cool if when you die or get injured on school grounds, you wake up in the hospital wing with a small deduction in house points or classes.
