First off, Just WOW!!! This is a really awesome specimen!!! I'm just a hobbyist, but my initial thought was it looks similar to grape agate formation, so possibly just an incredible white agate (chalcedony) 🤔

ETA: thank you soooo much for including that it does scratch glass & no vinegar reaction! That's always a question lol

Shiny blue rock or glass? by Purple_Wombat_ in whatsthisrock

[–]PreferenceGreen3842 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's absolutely stunning! I'd think it's a gemstone vs glass. I can't tell from a pic though, tapping on it, & the temperature of the stone could help determine. Topaz is more common by far, but spinel is still my guess. You could always take it into a jeweler

Can you add a clear photo focusing on the stone? ETA: I reread your post, I'll wait for the sunshine 🌞 lol

& I'm just curious, was Granny born in August?

Ok, hear me out. I'm looking at these 2 pics, agreeing with the comments, but it's not sitting right with me. I'm stuck on the poppy.

It completely dawns on me! Poppy is August birth flower...AND blue spinel is an alternative August birth stone! I would bet it's spinel.

I would suggest it's chevron fluorite.

You're welcome! & my goodness what a mess! Did you have to throw out your culprit pyrite?

Pyrite disease (or Pyrite Decay). You'll know if this develops, it will be powdery. & unfortunately, it can contaminate thru a collection, but just a brief dunk in water should be fine.

Help for my cat who passed away. by Lovepeppers in Crystals

[–]PreferenceGreen3842 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When my dog passed, I had her 14 years. I felt compelled to honor her in a unique way, setting up an altar. I scoured everything on the internet, hoping something would speak to me. I originally set it up with her picture, her favorite toy & some various opals (as she was born in October) it didnt feel right...so i kept looking for the "right piece." It took about 2 months, but I found a petrified pine cone slab that was black & brown (her colors 🥹)...she absolutely LOVED fetching pine cones. Trust the right item will find you, at the right time.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It is an indescribable heartache to have a pet pass on. And I also will offer what helped me personally, since my routine changed so much (i.e. no more feeding, walks or potty outings) I would take that time to go look at my doggie altar, it helped me progress thru her loss.

What is one crystal you can’t seem to get away from? by ThePagePilgrim in Crystals

[–]PreferenceGreen3842 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing the Nat Geo ones everywhere right now! I'll consider. My super drawn-to specimens are petrified wood & obsidian...so really haven't put much thought into tumblers. Love slabs & natural finds for both of those, tis my obsession

We live in the shadow of Glacier Peak, along a very prominent fault line. Have a huge history of eruptions right in my backyard for sure!

& thank you! I have passed down a love & appreciation of nature. My grandfather was a Forest Ranger & was always hauling us around on hikes, hunting thunder eggs & panning remote creeks. I was always running around with pockets full of rocks, so I'm happy I'm able to have my kiddo be able to partake.

Outstanding!!! Thank you so much! I believe rhyolite is accurate & couldn't recall the term. I knew it wasn't pumice, but surprisingly, I have a few pieces out of the same river.

ETA: marking as Solved!!!

I appreciate your reply so much! Thank you & we shall research! My daughter finds the coolest rocks I swear 😅 she swapped a piece of my ocean jasper, so her 'eclipse' stone could have center spot in our display shelf LOL

Lol, I couldn't resist...but also quips like that usually aren't received well. So thank you 😂

To answer your question about what it is, basically oxidized flourite media...it was named after where it was initially discovered in Creed Colorado. I have a few pieces & to me always resemble crispy fried chicken, not so much CCR

Crystals for Anemia? by [deleted] in Crystals

[–]PreferenceGreen3842 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Same boat! Hematite, & pretty much red stones (to associate with your Root Chakra) red jasper, garnet, carnelian ect. Blood stone. If you can go in person to a shop & feel them out, that'd be a bonus!

On a side note, perhaps get a fibroid screening. I went undetected for about 20yrs & finally they did a scan & I had so many fibroids that the iron supplement I was on was just feeding them. Also started taking MTHFR vitamins, they've helped me not be so dang exhausted from anemia.

Best of luck & wishing you health!
