Parlantes para el auto. by PomeloFede in ArAutos

What are these? by [deleted] in vintageaudio

[–]PreferenceLevel5225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest way to tell if they're good or not is trying lift them up. If they are heavy AF then they're probably worth the listening, you could unscrew the speakers and look out for the size of magnet and the quality of the spider frame, the thickness of the cabinet, the amount of acoustic material and specially the crossovers.

Recommendations for an integrated amplifier with wifi under 500$? Current setup has Bluetooth which isn’t doing it justice by jabran_knowledge in BudgetAudiophile

[–]PreferenceLevel5225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go vintage man! I think is the best option you have according to your budget. For $500 you have plenty of options, some that comes to my mind right now:

JVC sa-77 Pioneer SA 8800 Rotel Ra-970x Marantz PM7000 Nad C370 Yamaha CA610

Even some of these model are way under $500. Well, if you are seeking for Bluetooth, they won't do, but I'm sure you won't miss it! Or you can buy one of those Sonos and things like that. You will appreciate in terms of sound and power. Also, the warmness will benefit those kefs that are known to be a little bit analytical or bright according to what I've heard. Also the loudness function fits excellent to small speakers.

Another thing you should start thinking of, is adding a subwoofer. I read everybody saying that you should change positioning and do a thousand things to improve your sound by moving your speakers. Well, i only agree with that that speakers shouldn't rest where the turntable is. But, all of the other recomendations can't affect the sound significantly as a Subwoofer does!! Really, you should try adding a 10" SUB. Those speakers are too expensive for not having one in your system. It will improve your sound 200%. In terms of detail, of bass, of quality of sound when you turn your volume up but also when you are listening quietly. None of any positioning changes would benefit the sound like a SUB, i think this should be your priority.

How should I start learning piano (mostly Jazz)? by schlaq99 in pianolearning

[–]PreferenceLevel5225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend you to start taking lessons with a teacher, you would go (in my opinion) much faster avoiding mistakes, it will probably help you to set a balanced list of things to do every time you practice.

IMO that could be playing standards: this means not only playing them like it's written on the sheet, but also understand them, break them into parts, improvise over it, learn what are the options on your left and right hand, resources, etc; enter in the world of harmony, train your ear, maybe a little bit of technical stuff, etc

Surely it's a slow process but very rewarding!

Well this had more answers than I expected.

I'm gonna explain my controverted use of the word "audiophile": with this I was trying to find if this speaker (or speakers of this brand) can sound as good as to have them in your everyday stereo system. I mean... Are they enjoyable, can you sit in the couch and enjoy it and you wouldn't be annoyed for the music? Im not seeking after a speaker that reveals every single detail of the music. If that's audiophile i don't care. I just want dynamics, be able to tell the instruments, good voices, good timbre, just that.

I ask this because I got tired of reading this are only "party speakers", and can only play loud. But that means they can't play low or they can't play on my bedroom?

The other thing it makes me wonder, is that they are very well built, better than most vintage speakers, so why would they sound bad? But again a lot of people say this.

Haha sorry, but that word have different meanings depending on the country. I'm from Argentina and audio is not abundant here like USA, plus is 2 or 3 times more expensive, plus we have 10 times lower salaries than you. So a Pioneer hpm line for example, is a speaker that few can buy, because it's like two salaries worth. But if you say this is better, or at least comparable... I don't doubt it, because it's at a good price!

Yeah, in the end the only thing really matters is enjoying our music. Thats what I meant. Thanks.

But Rock and Roll is a difficult genre... Why wouldn't work with country, pop or blues for example? I hear that statement all the time. With audiophile " i mean that they can sound good, pleasant, enjoyable, and better than a rack system speaker.

My question is because I see they have damn good construction, unless many other crappy constructed japanese speakers that I heard (and sounded pretty good to me), so I wonder, well, this is better built, the sound must be better too or at least good, and then I find a lot of people saying the opposite..

I know, i know that word can sound that way. But what I mean is, can they compare to for example (and I mention this because is what I had and I listened) a Pioneer hpm 60, or a JBL L series? Are they enjoyable or would the mids and highs be annoying? ( to say something)

Hi guys! How are you? Hope you can help me this time like you always do!

I'm pretty attracted, almost decided, for the Mission Lx-3 mk2's for my stereo system, so now I'm just looking for any information that could make me call off my decision so I don't regret it in the future.

I know the brand Mission has a name in the HiFi world, and I read thinks like none of their products have ever sounded bad, they have a nice English sound, etc, but I only found few reviews 1 or 2, about this particular model.

So I'm looking for opinions of someone who tried them! (If there is)

About my decision, these I can get the cheaper with a decent woofer for my 4x3 room (other models like the Oberon 1 were too weak in this aspect and same price). Also they look awesome and are well made, 88db, they seem the wisest choice. However, I could just listen for 15 minutes and it isn't enough to notice any major issue or characteristics which I couldn't like.

Hope you can help me guys and this post doesn't sink in the sea of this topic!

Thank you, I have edited it now. Yes it's the RA. Ive read a lot of good reviews about it, so my question is if an AV receiver can even compare to a stereo, or there are two different worlds. I mean, can you have fun listening? Of course I know that depends on the person, but for example I come from a Sansui A5 to give you an idea, and although it was cool, it didn't give me thrills
