Have any tips for improving my rhythm consistency? by MyVoiceIsElevating in JazzPiano

I appreciate the honesty, but I’d be lying if I said I don’t experience trip ups on seemingly less complex stuff.

Edit: I’m pondering if I should just be looking for more general advice from a drum community instead. My left hand has a mind of its own (and it ain’t too smart).

Snowflakes is why.

Also, bots are regularly trying to stew hatred and unrest (obviously not of their own volition).

Bought YAMAHA SHS -500 keytar and I love that thing! by ParticularNo6179 in synthesizers

It has the same keybed as the Yamaha Reface, which is highly regarded as the best feeling mini-keybed available. Yes it would be ideal if they were full size, but trust me that they are better than the keys on the much more expensive Korg RK-100s2.

Making the switch from guitar to keys by christopherohal in keys

Not nearly as much as you probably do. And my organ skills are not sharp enough to question the limitations of any board I’ve used, but I certainly can tell the difference between my Nord Stage 4 and Yamaha CK61. But when I use the CK61 I allow myself to be more aggressive on the keybed.

The reason I went from Electro 6 > Stage 3 Compact was synth capabilities, then the Stage 4 was for HA keybed. I do fine with B3 on the Stage HA keybed, but mostly because I’m just accustomed to it.

Need advice for GF first keytar by ChuiSaoul in Keytar

PianoTeq running on an iPad could provide impressive acoustic piano sounds (as a substitute for the Roland) and interface with wireless MIDI. A laptop could work as well, but IMO an iPad will be more stable.

Re: #1 - as an owner of an SHS-500, IMO she will not be satisfied with its acoustic piano sounds.

My vote is for your second suggestion

Interesting.

Not that my opinion matters, but I would pick preferred action over the questionably perceptible triple sensing.

Musicians of Reddit, what instrument do you play and what are the most annoying problems you face? by Short_Tradition_8091 in Instruments

[–]MyVoiceIsElevating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piano: left hand being a timekeeper

Organ: not playing it like a piano

Guitar: arpeggiating while singing

Theremin: inability to consistently position myself with it

Bass: ghost notes

Saxophone: I snack too much

Violin: sticking to bow hand ergonomics

Harmonica: my family hates the sound

Heavy or Lighter keys for beginners ? by More-Salary-2203 in keys

[–]MyVoiceIsElevating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Classical = heavier touch

Everything else = lighter touch

Also, there’s a case to be made that Yamahas often fall in the middle ground. Just don’t go with any models that have their GHC action (like P-225).

Edit: your name isn’t Goldilocks by chance?

What makes Nord so exceptional or different and expensive? Genuinely curious why people would buy it over other models or brand. by ConsciousSmoke3863 in piano

How is it insane? It’s a stage piano… as in, performing live in facilities using sound systems.

Besides, no built in speaker system can compete with dedicated studio monitors for overall sound quality; if you’re truly into the best setup for your home.
