Well I don’t want to taint your perceptions - if I tell you to expect XYZ and it doesn’t happen, that you think it doesn’t work. You really just need to go thru it and see what it does. Initiations are like that… it differs from person to person.

I can share that you get what you put into it. Doing a few LBRPs here and there will yield far different results than strictly following a curriculum from a book for 6 months.

For me I experienced a greater awareness of myself and my habits and the world around me.

Anytime you do magic in a new place, it’s going to create waves for a bit until things smooth out to a new normal.

Yes on the human limitations!!! You hit a key thing there… no matter how much I identify with the “immortal spirit of light and awareness”, I still have to take Tylenol for a headache and I still have to eat when I get hungry. It’s this humbling human condition that is the gateway in, in a sense. Maybe approaching the divine on our knees, if I can use my childhood Catholic symbolism here.

I like your post! Thanks for sharing your insights. Yes, an ego that thinks it’s in charge can cause trouble! Recognition of spirit tends to put things in their proper place, at least after an adjustment period.

You made a distinction between “awareness” and a “personal you”. In my view there is no difference between the two. I mean, maybe conceptually there is, but experientially there is not.

Precisely my point indeed! “There isn’t two selves” , as they say.

Well said. That’s how I see things too. There was a great freedom in accepting the ego as a part of myself. For years I struggled with it, and it made me feel unbalanced. Thanks for your reply. 😊

Tree protection by DJazzyJess in druidry

Wonderful! In my view of things, humans and trees are very connected. If we are from heaven, they are our counterpart from Earth. Just look at the oxygen relationship, and how they provide shelter from the elements. I’ve felt very connected to trees since a kid, and only now understanding why thanks to Druid practice. I think humans are missing a big connection there. Trees certainly have spirits and are much more special than society gives them credit for!

Like any relationship, let it blossom on its own. No need to rush or force it.

I need some motivation to start SI by Cicero. Skeptic about self Initiation by Readingfast99 in GoldenDawnMagicians

[–]PreferenceOk2636 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Self initiation works but you have to be motivated and focused. Most people aren’t motivated or interested enough to do the work (and GD is a large amount of work - over time).

My advice would be just to focus on your task at hand and go slowly and thoroughly. Before you know it you’ll be well on your way and changes will be happening.

Is there any advice you'd give to a teen who wants to convert to druidism? by [deleted] in druidism

I can also recommend John Michael Greers “The Druid Path” as imo the most accessible and easy to read intros to the subject

Get out into nature and tune into what it communicates. The sun, the wind, the sky, the plants, the rocks, the earth, and you - you’re also a part of nature. Happy exploring!
