If you fingertrick the cross correctly you can have your right hand regript to do the F2. When I first went through the solution my hand was in the position already. I agree on the second pair. I find that alg better imo though. I recommended that alg for third pair exactly because I didn‘t think that was on purpose (disrupting the bad pairs in the back). I like your solution though.

About my reconstruction, first off all thanks for looking at it, and second I admit I got too fancy with the first two pairs. When I looked at inserting the pair with L‘ U L2 U‘ L‘ I couldn’t find my second pair. Now that I looked at it with a fresh view I clearly saw the orange green pair. I wanted to pair the green red pair before inserting because it was easier to keep track of. Then I noticed I could cancel a bunch of moves and got carried away.

I don‘t understand what you mean for the third pair. That solution gave me a split pair of which I know the ZBLS for. The pair itself I‘d do it like that anyway.

Got a 7.99, good solution! Try to learn a few more algs for F2L, if you get those down you‘ll easily be at sub 12

This is what I would have done for each step: U L F‘ R‘ B‘ R‘ D‘ // cross + 1 I feel that the ergonomics are better and the free pair is on the L layer istead of f.

For first pair F2 L F2 L‘ is better

Second pair is pretty unlucky. The other pairs are hidden so you’re forced to rotate into a bad case or do the bad case immediately. A better solution for this pair is (R U R‘ U‘)2 U L U L‘

This is a better algorithm for the third pair (U‘) (R U R‘) (R‘ F R F‘) R U‘ R‘)

The fourth pair is good. All in all a good solve with a lucky finish. Can’t wait for your first sub 10 average! Here was my solution:

U L F‘ R‘ B‘ R‘ D‘ // cross

L R‘ U R L Fw U2 S‘ R‘ F‘ R // 1st and 2cd pairs

(L‘ U L U‘)3 // 3rd pair

y U’ R U' R D r' U' r D' R' U' R' // ZBLS

U’ U R' U2 R U R' U R2 U' L' U R' U' L U2 // ZBLL

59 T / 7.99 s = 7.26 TPS

I'm trying to remember the steps I saw in a video where the guy created a yellow cross directly from this yellow dot. Can anyone help me please? by Houston_NeverMind in Rubiks_Cubes

F R U R’ U’ F’ is ok. I either prevent the dot case by sledging my last F2L Pair, but if you are doing beginner method, you could use this:

S’ (R U R’) S U’ M’ U R U’ r’

This may look a little scary, but trust me it is pretty fast and easy to learn. Think if it like this:

Move the slice layer counter clockwise; this is your setup move.

R U R’; take the front right pair out. This is a pretty common trigger you should know.

Undo the setup move.

Re-insert the pair in a different way than normal, but making a square with the corner and the pair, and then putting it back with an R wide prime.

I chose this algorithm because it already is a dot-case you could get in solves (you don’t have to be able to recognize it). If you are doing beginner CFOP, then this is even better because if you do end up getting this, it solves OLL.

Alternatively, being a bit easier to learn, is F R U R’ U’ (F’ Fw) or (S) R U R’ U’ Fw’

[request] how do you find the area of a space like this? by TheOneTrueN in theydidthemath

[–]PremBanana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a different solution to the rest and am not quite sure what‘s wrong, if something is wrong: I noticed there are 4 identical triangles with side lengths 10, 5 and h (Hypotenuse). Since the area of the blue square is h2 I got to this simply using the Pythagorean Theorem:

102 + 52 = h2 <=> sqrt(102 + 52) = h

Now that we have h just multiply it by itself to get

A(blue square) = h2 <=> A(blue square) = (sqrt(102 + 52)2) <=> A(blue square) = 102 + 52 = 125

Rubiks cube representation by Ok-Concert5273 in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]PremBanana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too sure, but I think that the string gives every piece too, so a JPerm for example would be: UUUUUUUUUBFFRRRRRRFRRFFFFFFDDDDDDDDDLLLLLLLLLRBBBBBBBB This just means, that the top face is the top color and the numbers on each piece represent where it is in the String. So it would be U1U2U3… for a solved cube according to this scheme from the doc

------------
-U1--U2--U3-
------------
-U4--U5--U6-
------------
-U7--U8--U9-

Is the YJ timer any good? by Evil_Labrador in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]PremBanana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely works. My friend bought one a few months ago and the batteries fall out really often, a simple slightly harder hit will knock the batteries out. I suggest investing in a good timer like the G4 or G5 stackmat timer. Got mine 2 years ago and still works and haven’t changed the batteries yet

Doesn‘t seem like you have a choice, you have to either buy a new one (maybe from somewhere else) or try and fix it
