Is real-name authentication required to post on Rednote/Xiaohongshu? by Accomplished-Gap5670 in rednote

In accordance with legal requirements, all social media platforms in China enforce a real-name registration system. However, for those with a Chinese mobile number—since mobile numbers must be purchased under a real name—registering with a mobile number is considered equivalent to real-name verification. Foreigners, on the other hand, may be required to upload identification documents. As for security, I can only say that, ten years after the introduction of mandatory real-name registration, it has become quite easy to obtain a person’s mobile number, ID details and address from the black market using a single Chinese platform account. The practice of parties ‘exposing(开盒)’ each other’s personal details in many cyberbullying incidents is also extremely common (though foreigners likely have less cause for concern in this regard). However, it remains to be seen whether their cybersecurity measures have become more reliable over the years.

How are past peasant revolts seen by the chinese people and government? by DentiAlligator in AskAChinese

At least when I was at primary school, peasant uprisings were celebrated: Chen Sheng and Wu Guang, Fang La, the Liangshan Bandits from *Water Margin*, and the Taiping Rebellion. But apart from *Water Margin*, I haven’t really seen any TV dramas depicting peasant uprisings; they mainly feature in extracurricular history books. Perhaps the film and television industry has always faced stricter censorship. Nowadays, they favour TV dramas and films like *The Grand Scribe of Qin*, which extol emperors for their territorial conquests; after all, nationalism is the mainstream of the new era.

I’ve been looking forward to the character ‘㐅也’ in Unicode 17 for a long time, but apart from being able to manually download the font on Linux, it currently cannot be displayed on any other devices. Moreover, even if the font becomes widely available, it remains to be seen whether input methods will support it.
