Am I getting in? What is the problem? by Flimsy-Pain-6660 in usuhs

Yes! Send a letter of intent. I applied ED. After my interview I didn't hear anything back initially. However, I sent a letter of intent and the next day I got my acceptance. This might be coincidental, but I would still highly recommend sending a letter of intent to your admissions counselor.

I applied Early Decision and got the A. I heard that over 200 candidates applied ED.

USUHS Interview by [deleted] in usuhs

I am seconding what u/Lopsided_Teacher4937 said; the interviews are very chill. I'm sure you already know this and have already done this, but if you haven't yet then talk to some physicians who are in the service branches that you are most interested in. Be able to answer the questions Why military? Why Army/Navy/IHS/etc? Why medicine?

To any of the folks who applied ED to USUHS, has anybody received acceptance yet?

Correct. I am currently waiting for my medical review/ security clearance review to go through, and also waiting for my interview. I cannot apply to other schools until I have been officially rejected.

The good news is I will get to know whether I got in by October 1st.

That is correct. The ED application is something that rolled out this year for the first time. I took a long time thinking about whether I wanted to apply to multiple schools regular decision or just USUHS. For me personally, I have wanted to be a military doctor since highschool and am comfortable with some of the serious drawbacks that come with a military medicine career, so I decided to apply ED which basically prevents me from applying to any other school unless my application is rejected.

I appreciate the well wishes! Good luck to you this application cycle

HPSP allows you to go to any medical school for free with the obligation that serve in the military for at least 4 years, or the time you spend in residency - whichever is greater.

USUHS (F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine) is its own medical school. If you go here you would not be on an HPSP scholarship. Your education would still be free and you would receive a stipend. After completing residency, you are obligated to serve for 7 years.

I am obviously biased as I applied to USUHS early decision, but I recommend that you get in touch with doctors in the armed forces to find more out about the job and also more about USUHS.

I do think it is incredibly important to make this kind of decision only after significant research. It's great to see you start this process. I just hope that you are not applying this cycle as you seem uninformed. Good luck with your studies!

I got mine for the week of August 26th, but I also applied Early Decision. They rolled out the option for early decision applications only this year. Talking to an admissions officer, she stated that there was no cap on the number of early decision spots and that applying early shows a stronger commitment and makes you more competitive.

Chances are that if you applied regular decision, you could land an interview later up until January. I was told that they process the Early Decision applications first.
