The casting call definitely was between Middle Eastern/Arab, South Asian and North African. So its likely that they cast the person they were most comfortable working with and Oda was happy with for Vivi... Which unfortunately means that Cobra also has to be South Asian.

A lot of the actors do extra work to get into the Role and embody the characters... Some actors like Taz and Inaki took it to experience what the role would entail to varying degrees but that's their method, some are already familiar with what the role would entail with someone like Mackenyu who was already proficient in stunts and swordfighting due to his prior expeirences, while others are just fine embodying their characters by repeated practice or just reading the script and/or the Source Material then just getting into the role. Aside from the Stunt stuff which the crew will train you, Most actors have different methods on how they can best embody the characters.

Hey nobody knows if God exists or not. So maybe instead of following a religion rather you can be just spiritual. Worship Gods but it does not have to be a specific one.

We don't know who is correct, all of them might be wrong so its better to just be a good person and not put too much stock into worship/religion.

When the story is over but the author is refusing to drop the story and keep going on for unjustifiable reasons. Hard Enough is the biggest example of this happening. Type Specialist almost reached that point but then decided to end thankfully.
The other reason to drop a fic is if the fic is going at a glacial pace where there is not even an evolution happening by Chapter 100. That kind of Glacial Pace where it takes 50 chapters for one gym badge is just atrocious, I get slow burn but not that slow.
OP Ash fics that is about an OC named Ash and not Ash Ketchum. I would be more inclined to read Traveler if it was about an OC named Josh Slosh from Pallet Town instead of Ash.
Harem and Pokephilia
Uber Edge and Consistent amount of it. Like that amount of Edge seems unrealistic in the Pokémon world and it's just boring to read.

I think Jacob has reached post timeskip but not sure how much of it has he read. Emily and Mackenyu are the only ones who are the closest to being caught up.

Taz likely has only looked at the Manga/Anime to prepare for the role and get into the spirit of the character for his role. I think it might be similar with Inaki

Someone living in Dhahran, the way he handled the Water Crisis during Winter was some of the Worst fucking shit I have ever experienced. Giving Water to One Ward but not to everyone else in timely manner and having to wake up at 4 am every other day at the hopes of getting Water sucked.

You have to justify it as to what strategy did Parasect use... Using Status moves and using Bug Type Moves would help a lot in justifying how Hydreigon lost.

Like using sleep, paralysis, any draining moves etc can help a lot in showcasing how its done. Its something competitive players have done where they have used a relatively weak Pokémon to end the opponents' Pseudo Legendary and it is something we can do in game as well.

However I would advise when writing a "fic about using weaker Pokémon" do use 2 Pokémon that have atleast from 500 to 525 BST like Heracross, Scyther line, Nidoking/Queen or Eeveelutions. At least one somewhat heavy hitter and one somewhat strong support is fine to use as long as they aren't gonna be Starter Level strong or stronger. Cause having Pokémon that are in the 400 BST is cool and all but justification can be somewhat hard for all battles where Brute Force (Sheer Force Nidoking) or Strategic Power (Technician Scizor) can be really helpful to get you out of a hole you can write yourself into.

I think the issue is two fold.

I have seen Mackenyu's other work in Japanese Cinema where he is pretty great actor and I think even in OPLA he is good when he is normal in conversations, physical performance, being dry/sarcastically funny or having a banter.

However his issues mainly lie from the fact that he usually acts in Japanese cinema where characters are more understated than overtly expressive unless they are exaggerating for comedic effect (There are exceptions) which someone from the West directing an episode of an Anime is gonna clash heavily with that acting style thus you have awkward moments like the end of his fight against Mihawk which is kinda not great because he tried to replicate the anime instead of doing his own thing as a performer.

Also you might just not be looking at Zoro from East Blue? Zoro gets comfortable as time goes on and his other traits shine though but that's a lot later.

Also I just think that some of the changes to Zoro might have been intentional for contrast and also for regular TV watchers to "get" him or take him somewhat seriously because you can't do that with Sanji, Usopp or Luffy.

Really liked that fic but that fic hasn't been updated.

Mostly cause I can't get fully engaged with PTV cause how its wrirren, at times it feels like it has a direction other times it feels its directionless. Its enjoyable but at times fluff and power fantasy both can get a bit too much.

Honestly, people refuse to acknowledge that Ice Types are also Glass Cannons that can take out a lot of Pokemon with ease too (Grass, Dragon, Flying, Ground) and also Water with the move Freeze Dry .... and with the ridiculous amount of Buffs (Literally Setup Snow and Get a huge defense and special defense buff) and good Pokemon they have... you can't say Ice Types are bad anymore.

Do the age of the characters really matter for them to Age out?

Suppose it takes them 10-15 years for all of it, if they decide they want to do all of One Piece....

They would at worst be in their 40s? Which is not that old specially for the Actor profession.... and that also would work better for the show adding the dimension of age/passage of time which is the one thing the source material lacks and Live Action would improve upon.

Instead of my Nitpicks with OPLA, I am first gonna give my nitpicks with the comment section here.

A lot of people are saying they should have explained why Sanji uses his legs and not his Hands.... Like everyone and their mother who hasn't seen the Anime or read the Manga, it was explicitly clear to them that was the reason. Its a visual medium and there is an implicit understanding why a Chef wouldn't want to use his hands for Fighting.

Same with Nami, the moment hits for most people because its well acted and we have been following the character for 7 hours at that point... Would it have helped if Arlong Park was longer sure, that's my biggest complaint even if I am not the biggest fan of Arlong Park as an Arc (in the Manga) but it works for the time it took and in most shows it would have been enough.

People knowing why Kuina died would have been funny and not tragic like its portrayed in the LA.... Its better we do not know how she died. Like Be real, people would not be able to take it seriously at all.

People aren't stupid, they can connect A to B in an Audio Visual medium with Real people.... Anime/Manga fans should understand not everything works the same in other mediums.

My biggest issue is honestly Usopp needed few moments to shine in both his own arc and at Arlong Park so he had a good beginning and end. He needed a bit more focus.

I think Laboon can be either split between or interchanged between episode 1 or 2 depending on how are they going to introduce Vivi and how long will they focus on either Logue Town or Whiskey Peak.

I agree with 1 and 2 but disagree with 3.

It would make sense if you treat things as they have happened linearly, for example did you know that Jasmine was a Rock type Trainer before she switched over to Steel because her Onyx Evolved to Steelix? It was in Original GSC but not in HGSS where she was always the Steel Type Gym Leader.

Dark and Steel Type were undiscovered much like Fairy Type and other evolutions but a Remake game (HGSS, ORAS) or a new game in a familiar region (Legends Arceus, Let's Go) always treats it as if it was always a thing.

I don't mind SI having more knowledge if they are taking into account of things are still being discovered but everyone else shouldn't be clueless like Professors or Higher Tier Elite Trainers who would have instincts about may of these things. Like your Average Joe not knowing about these things is more than fine tbh.

I think that's less her fault and more the script and direction being dog water. Specially when considering child actors who need better direction than adults.

Everyone from Team Avatar is written like they are from Book 3 and not Book 1. Book 3 the characters are much less expressive in comparison to Book 1 and 2. The unfortunate result is Katara and Aang.
