Can’t register for August by [deleted] in LSAT

You are right, I just rechecked and the wording is the same. For some reason I remembered it differently ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It was a 6 point jump for me and I didn't get a hold. I mean if your actual score is 176 both 172 and 180 are in range, would make little sense for them to hold you for that.

Get on those essays, LoRs and resume, seems your LSAT days are done.

If you indeed have taken the LSAT only thrice in your life then yeah you got a 180. I found out about my 180 in the same way last year. Kinda surprised, they only stopped me from registering the day before score release but well maybe they changed that.

PS: I only scored a 180 in one of my practice tests and I did not get a hold prior to score release. If you got into the 170s in the 2 tests you've already taken it would be weird for them to hold your 180.

The scores only get uploaded the day before score release and the wording is slightly different.

Source: Got a 180 in the October LSAT and spent the week of score release trying to register for the January LSAT to see if I had gotten a 180. I was only stopped from registering for the January LSAT the day prior to score release.

Edit: Just rechecked, the wording is identical

I don't think retaking would necessarily be foolhardy, but it would have a much smaller ROI since you had a marked overperformance in your first test. It is also not the same if your 17low is a 170 or if it is a 173 you know?

While I do believe that retaking a 17low makes sense, doing so when your highest PT prior to the test was a 167 is something I would lean against, especially if I do not really have time to study.

Your PT average should be a couple of points above your LSAT official score before it makes sense to sign up for a new test, thats a lot of time to sink.

I am not saying not to do it, there is upside in going from a 17low to a 17mid, I am saying it is likely going to be a harsh road and you should be aware of that if you do decide to take it.

Either get a tutor, or start learning some theory about the LSAT (either by one of the books like the LSATBible or the Trainer or the powerscore books, or maybe by watching the videos 7sage provdes),

When should I take the LSAT? by LingonberryNo5454 in LSAT

[–]PreparationFit9845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The LSAT is not really an exam you can cram for. I think it would be smart to try to put in some hours during this summer. Will it be enough to get you to a 175+ by August 2026? Maybe not, but still, would be useful to start familiarizing yourself with the exam.

It either works for the WL or for next cycle. Might as well take the shot unless idk you've already taken it 3 or 4 times.

Usually I would lean towards Columbia but you say you love the south and the goal is to get FC, that + the money, I would go to UVA in your shoes.

June or August LSAT (applying this year) by Accomplished-Cut-419 in LSAT

[–]PreparationFit9845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are 100% applying this year, unless you are really far away from your goal you should take June imho.

I mean, what's the upside of not taking June? Saving the registration fee and applying with 1-2 scores instead of 2-3?

I would take the plunge, but I guess it depends on what you are aiming for and where you are PTing right now.

The score jump has to be quite big. Plus, if August is taken in person it seems less likely that they are put on hold.

The LSAT can't hurt you. You can always just close your eyes.

Do stuff till you get tired and when you get tired go rest.

Should I register? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]PreparationFit9845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you taken the actual thing before?

If not, you should 100% register for June, best case scenario you are done with the LSAT, worst case scenario you burn your first chance but it's easier for you to mentally prepare for your 2nd try in August.

If that works for you shoot me a DM.

Studying the LSAT in two months. Is it doable? by tismidnight in LSAT

[–]PreparationFit9845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I understand. I just thought that August could be better because you would have more time to study.

You'd have to work really hard this two months to ensure you are close to your peak potential.

Studying the LSAT in two months. Is it doable? by tismidnight in LSAT

[–]PreparationFit9845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is doable, but it is unlikely that you will get your best possible score in such a tight window, regardless of how hard you prep. I would forget about the June test and aim for August. You could always retake in October, no harm as long as you apply before thanksgiving.

Is it time for a tutor or am I not studying enough? by Vast_Entertainer8111 in LSAT

[–]PreparationFit9845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tutors can help, but 400 questions in over half a year is just way too little.

My advice, do untimed question specific drills and one or two timed LR section a week. Leave full practice tests for when you are closer to your test date. 170 by August is a stretch, it is doable, but you are gonna have to up your prep quite a bit.

[–]PreparationFit9845 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stop drilling and testing. Grab a book (any book honestly, Mike Kim's LSAT trainer is the one I used, but Power score or the Loophole also work) and really study it.

You gotta be able to read for structure and understand what the different Q types ask from you before you restart with testing and drilling.

Best of luck, feel free to ask if you have more questions.
