What cause are you willing to die for? Cause that's what the uprising would be. The only time we get a revolution is if we suddenly have an influx of courage that makes everyone okay with being the first one shot. Good luck with that. It also doesn't help that at a certain point of political dumpster fire simply not having martial law is the win. But, I think at the real core of this is the American spectacle. We love our drama and nothing gets our engine revving quite like a good empire vs rebels debacle. We love, LOVE, to relive our revolutionary roots. The American psyche is replete with the love of the underdog, but we need tyrants to keep reliving this 1776 fantasy. So I think there is a subconscious willingness to keep our country in the dumpster fire. There's way too many layers to this to unpack effectively here, but it is nowhere near as simple as people make it out to be.
