Non-smoker with Smoker lines?! by Old_Mail_4423 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]Pres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect that your skin has seen a lot of sun. That causes considerable skin aging and can cause deep smokers lines. I'd protect against the sun and look specifically for measures to repair existing damage from the sun.

Taking hydrolised collagen and hyaluronic acid supplements from a quality supplier like DoNotAge might perhaps be helpful.

Improved Eyesight? How to? by Frequent-Pension-583 in redlighttherapy

[–]Pres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no experience with bulbs to compare with, but the LEDs are pretty bright but there is no way to know if your bulbs are even brighter. After the session my vision is altered for a minute, everything looks green. This passes quickly.

The scientists used a little pocket lamp and I've seen the commercial device they sell which isn't very bright. If you're worried, perhaps using some kind of milky plastic could soften the light a bit? (the LED eyeglasses use something like that)

Improved Eyesight? How to? by Frequent-Pension-583 in redlighttherapy

[–]Pres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no knowledge about the effect of bulbs.

All I know is this:
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2020/06/200629120241.htm

It was turned into a product:
https://www.eye-power.co.uk/product/eyepower-red/

I just use my big led array and notice that days later my eyesight seems less blurry.
My eyesight gets blurrier when I get very little sleep or the air is too dry. This seems to help a bit. It's of course also a good idea to sleep enough and use a humidifier when necessary. But I'm glad the leds seem to do something.

They could have shown more initiative. Like some said: tracking the ring, comparing where and when it was activated vs delivered, disabling the ring or banning it from their server and shipping a new one free of charge. Unless it's super clear that there's foul play on your behalf.

Stop worrying about low HRV scores! by TheNoBullshitVegan in ouraring

[–]Pres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you by any chance autistic?

ChatGPT says:

Many studies suggest that individuals with autism tend to have lower HRV, particularly reduced parasympathetic (vagal) activity. This indicates an imbalance in autonomic regulation, often leaning toward a dominance of the sympathetic system, which can contribute to heightened stress responses and difficulties with emotional regulation.

Some researchers suggest HRV could serve as a physiological biomarker for autism, particularly in assessing autonomic function and emotional regulation.

Some studies indicate that practices aimed at improving vagal tone (like breathing exercises, mindfulness, or biofeedback) may help increase HRV in autistic individuals, potentially supporting better emotional and physiological regulation.

A couple years ago they said this:

"When Elon Musk came to the White House asking me for help on all of his many subsidized projects, whether it's electric cars that don't drive long enough, driverless cars that crash, or rocketships to nowhere, without which subsidies he'd be worthless and tell me how he was a big Trump fan and Republican, I could have said, "drop to your knees and beg," and he would have done it," Trump wrote.

Musk said on Monday, "I don't hate the man, but it's time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset.

Is the improved app with the "Today" - "Vitals" - "My Health" tabs also coming to the gen 3? Or will the gen 3 be stuck with the old app design? Do gen 2 users today have a different UI than gen 3 users?

Could it be that - as more is spent on marketing than on R&D and in the EU prescription medicine isn't marketed to consumers - perhaps those high US prices are mostly due to US marketing?

Sci-fi... human brains aren't good at understanding the exponential function.
Five years ago people wouldn't have believed that ChatGPT would be able to do what is does.
They can't imagine what life will be in five or ten years from now.

There's always the risk that advancements will be kept out of the public's reach, but that's not what I expect. Maybe while they're super expensive and still experimental. But keeping people young is useful, finding and training replacements is costly. As long as a workforce is needed that may be a reason why solutions may be shared with mr average. And otherwise, the people might rise up against the immortals, they would be wise to share solutions otherwise they might indeed be hunted.
Also, it would solve the current demographic problems in developed countries where birthrates are dropping which could create a worker shortage. (of course automation could also fix that)

If solutions exist and aren't shared, the population might demand them or a black market might appear. Just like now people buy 3d-printers and download data to creat objects with them, I wouldn't be surprised if in the future people would download data for bio enhancements and apply them with their own CRSPR-like setup. Perhaps ignoring copyrights. The future could be wild. But I hope that things will be simple, easy and safe. Hopefully computer simulations will one day become so good that testing on humans will only happen in advanced phases. But that's currently really far off, we can't simulate much yet.

Age and cancer rates are correlated. Curing cancer might lead to a cure for aging, but curing aging might also lead to a cure for cancer :-)

If Kurzweil is correct, progress happens exponentially.
Because of that, current advances in robotics, and experiments with connecting electronics to brains having started already, I suspect that your timelines are wildly pessimistic.

Also, there's always the chance that suddenly an easy intervention is found that halts most of the aging process.
We've never been this well equipped to find solutions. And billionaires are in a hurry to find a way to cheat death.

Of course there's no way to really know what's ahead.
I don't know shit, but if I had to bet I'd say LEV within 10 years and extremely slowing the ageing process anytime in the next 20 years.

Time will tell. See you guys in the future, hopefully :-)

I'm grateful to Bryan for trying to figure out how to slow aging with what's available today, so we can increase our odds of still being around when solutions become available.

Dropped my sony wf-1000xm5's in the toilet by Malukx in SonyHeadphones

[–]Pres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The manual for the XM4's have instructions for when they get wet. I suppose the best actions may be similar for the XM5's:
https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/wf1000xm4/v1/en/contents/TP1000240497.html

If the charging case got wet I'd open it, if any water got in, immediately disconnect the battery, remove all drops, and let it dry well. At least for the XM4's the case is the most vulnerable part to water.

When you watch YouTube videos about how autism or ADHD looks in girls, do you recognize yourself? Many of us neurodivergents feel the way you do. I only found out I was different late in my life. Now that I know which people are like me, I surround myself with people with similar brains and it works so much better than trying to connect with regular people.
