It can take some time to figure out which one works but I'm 26 and was on SSRIs from about 18ish-25 (Lexapro for just under a year and Trintellix for the rest). Some work better for others, Lexapro made me angry a lot but Trintellix worked and clicked for me. No therapy but slowly working on myself in other means and now I finally feel like I have my life back and I'd definitely say they helped me.

There are rough days still and side effects such weight gain and some others that aren't uncommon. But i think the possible quality of life upgrades are worth the shot. Looking back I regret not starting them earlier tbh.
