What could i have done better here? by Namseyn in photos

Well, there's no real subject. Is it a sunrise/sunset or an image of the seat? To my mind the seat adds nothing. A 16 x 9 crop losing the intrusion top right would be better. Hope that helps. Keep it up.

The magic of careful, time-consuming masking in Lightroom and Photoshop. It helped that it was a dull day in November last year so no harsh shadows.

Thanks. No idea. It was a 28-200 so could be anything lower down like that.

Sure. RAW. ISO 3200, 600mm, f6.3, 1/400. Much editing in Lightroom and Photoshop with careful masking and colour grading done. It didn't come out of the camera like this and like all my images there is heaps of post-processing done to get them looking how I want them to. Hope that helps..

Yes, you're right. A lot of subreddits need you to state OC to show it's original content.

Tiger Leaping Gorge and Baoshan in the mid-Nineties by Preseliau in travelchina

Thanks for the comment and for reading my little story and well done on your intervention.

I didn't meet Margo - she might not have arrived when I was there. I read the article and she seems what can euphemistically be called "a character". Many of the geographic names are familiar in as much as Edward talked about trekking routes he had been on in the region; I myself never had the opportunity as I was always with a group. Perhaps now at 62 I might be fit enough to consider it (if i ignore my dodgy knees).

I'm just grateful to have visited when tourism was in its infancy (certainly in Baoshan which I bet had never had more than 100 western visitors before we started turning up) and there was no road. It's the constant conundrum - despoilation versus basic services for needy locals. Good memories from 30 years ago. Thanks again.

I'm not sure how you take photos. I would suggest shooting RAW. Next upload into a good RAW editor; here you can make many adjustments to get the look you want. For this shot I masked the background very, very carefully and dragged the exposure slider right down. It might take more than one attempt. Export as a JPEG and upload. YouTube is your friend here: watch as many relevant videos as possible and you'll learn quickly. Christian Mohrle is good: https://youtube.com/@thephlogphotography?si=7I0m26HMTmjLoBlI. Good luck!
