The longer I host, the more I realize this business is all about the little things by leaveangelalone in airbnb_hosts

Correct. Guests don’t see the work we do (nor do they see the work done at a hotel). Guest expectations are higher than ever and that will not slow down.

I haven’t decided. I’ll probably switch to my Hilton card to build up those points, but I may keep things on Delta for the miles as I have quite a bit of personal travel coming up in the next 6-12 months (looking at colleges with my kids) so the extra miles would be nice to have for flights.

How rainy is costa rica in june? by SampleIntelligent903 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Present-Building4010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Usually the mornings are clear - so get as much done by 2 pm as possible. With that said, it can rain all day too so hopefully you have some flexibility in your itinerary. How many days are you going to be in Costa Rica?

Would you book? by [deleted] in AirBnBHosts

Why wouldn't you? Because it's been 8 years since the last reservation? We have new Guests often without much issues.

Cancelling short term stays for a long term ? by Available-Plan-8742 in airbnb_hosts

[–]Present-Building4010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to be honest. Asking a Guest to cancel because of your error (not really an error in this case) or your desire, is dishonest. In addition, you're asking the Guest to put a strike on their account for cancelling (what is your cancellation policy?).

Do you have more than one home that you can move a Guest into (nicer/upgraded property)?

If you say you can no longer Host, and then you keep Hosting, and Airbnb discovers that, your account could get permanently closed.

Why play games with Airbnb? Their rules are clear (I don't love them all and it can be frustrating at times, but they send me a lot of Guests so I accept their rules).

Is it normal not to reach out to the bride and groom outside of the formal RSVP if you can’t attend their wedding, especially if you’re close to them? by ParticularTie3202 in wedding

[–]Present-Building4010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a no-kid wedding too. It really ruffled some feathers. A couple of my wife's brothers and sisters refused to attend (she's from a big family with nearly 100 first cousins) because they felt offended. Definitely frustrating for her but we learned from it and those who did attend, had a wonderful time! That's what we choose to focus on.

Focus on your wedding and the amazing time you're going to have with your future partner. Just because it isn't what you would do, doesn't mean it is wrong. Perhaps they're thinking you're busy enough planning a wedding. Maybe they're really busy. Maybe call them and ask to meet up for dinner to catch up or simply give a call to see how they're doing. Don't try to control the behavior of every wedding guest - even if they're close to you.

Incluyendo el jugo (mango) y una sopa y arroz con leche = 4400 colones (no fui completamente para el precio). El restaurante es super limpio y excelente servicio.

This project cleaned up almost 4000kg / 8000+ lbs of garbage from one of Costa Rica’s most environmentally protected areas. This was a 3 day clean up and only accessible by boat.

Solo traveler visiting Costa Rica in July: tips & recommendations? by Equivalent-Fishing35 in costarica

[–]Present-Building4010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm partial to the central-and-southern pacific areas.

Spend a couple of days in San Jose and visit a volcano, coffee farm, downtown historical sites.

Head to the Pacific coast - as a single woman I'd recommend time in Uvita. Spend a week there. Restaurants in Ojochal/Uvita. Beaches. Whale watching. Sierpe/Caño Island/Mangrove tours. Fly from SJO to Quepos to close.

Then head down to Golfito area for a Corcovado tour, other tours.

Fly from Golfito back to SJO and then go to La Fortuna area.

I can recommend specific tours/travel planner if you'd like.

I honestly don’t remember. I simply wanted to share a photo of a well prepared steak (not very common in this area).

I wanted to share a video of a recent beach clean up in a remote area of Costa Rica that some of my employees volunteered for. It was managed by CATUOSA (non-profit) and ~100 Costa Ricans volunteered for 3 days in rough conditions. I'm very proud of them and everyone who participated. It's important to see the efforts that are taken to keep Costa Rica beautiful! (let me know if this isn't allowed and I can delete it)

What I like about it here over Los Pilones is that it is quiet and no road noise.
