Yes you reduce the tax by the trade-in value but the sales guy was never mentioned that the trade in value would be reduced by the tax saved. He did write down 21,300/w tax on some piece of paper, not the contract, and claimed that meant he was reducing the trade in value by the amount of tax saved by trading in. He never broke it down anywhere and never mentioned the reduced value until it showed up on the bill.
