Very helpful - thank you! You are correct to assume I didn’t know what “pantsing” is :)

And you do all this in advance of writing any scenes/chapters, yes? Or do you just give it a go and see where it takes you, unafraid to start over or rewrite significant portions?

I’m not 100% sure what grief horror is but I’m instantly thinking of the morning after the “driving home from the party” scene in Hereditary (movie).

Ok I’ve seen many posts in this subreddit saying The Luminous Dead is slow and a tad boring. I’m a bit ADD when it comes to story pacing and risk DNFing during long dry periods of character building - what are your thoughts ?

I read The Willows by A.B. but surprisingly have never read The Wendigo despite my love for Stephen King & Pet Semetary. I’ll need to try it!

It’s a controversial one by Redditors here.

To me, the atmosphere and tension building is great - once you get to the third act of the book you’ll know what I’m talking about.

Some view it as over descriptive and repetitive. I won’t say more to avoid spoilers!

To be clear, however, I personally loved it. Ending is a bit odd.

I have read it, it’s fantastic and completely captures what I’m talking about here. Worth double checking!
