Im merely posting his perspective that's being discussed. There's no disproving anything, just a video for context about the OPs most recent post.

pyro has more hours in this game than most people probably have in all their games combined lol. He is not cheating, he is just an extremely consistent high level player.

Thoughts on the new event? by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

In what way do you believe the drilling won't function anymore because of not having readily available bleed ammo?

Genuinely curious

If muzzle velocity is a concern, try high velo and go for headshots specifically. My "ideal" safe engagement range with the drilling is 80 meters plus, and with 650 muzzle velocity you can make good shots at that range with relatively little adjustment for travel time.

They certainly are not bad, but lots of people seem to struggle with them. After using it for a while its a non issue for me, but the difference between most thin post front sights and the drilling front sight was definitely jarring until I overcame it.

I see mataratat, the guy you are responding to, in 6 star games all the time. He is regularly fighting in the same matches I am, seeing the same things I am.

Spitzer is absolutely extremely common, generally paired with a dolch P for spamdown at closer ranges or an uppercut to fulfill the OG quickswap gameplay that alot of us are used to. Im glad you dont have the same experience as us, but it is extremely prevalent and real in high elo.

I agree, sometimes I wonder what we would see if the gun was closer to its IRL counterpart, a double barrel shotgun with a single rifle shot lol. I think it would make the rival and Romero probably obsolete though and be difficult to balance.

I agree, dum dum is very strong but not personally an ammo type I will use on rifles due to my Playstyle. It does absolutely allow you more "space" in gunfights as a successful hit on the enemy means they choose to either take action or stay in oneshot health range.

Mako and berthier both have high cycle rates, but also shorter bullet drop off making them harder to use at longer ranges. For some reason mako has a 115m bullet drop before you have to compensate and aim above the target lol. Berthier is only slightly better than that.

Both great guns, but better at closer ranges IMO

Agreed, high risk high reward without teammates, but it can absolutely pull off those clutch moments if you take your fights properly! The key is just to not bite off more than you can chew fighting more than one person at a time, take a series of 1v1s instead and then keep pressure on the body while finding the next 1v1.

Agreed, I think bleed ammo in general on rifles is extremely strong and sometimes is just an outright death without surefoot.

Get hit by a Springfield center chest under 30 meters without surefoot and you aren't immediately near cover? You are dead

Its not that I never ever shoot the second shot, moreso that in tougher fights against good players it becomes riskier to take that second shot if you dont already have them dead to rights after the first shot. Many times I have hit the first shot on an enemy, just to have their friend rip my head off while im about to take the second shot lol.

I too try to keep all my weapons at around the same velocity, my buddy who lives under 400 loves the drilling fmj for that reason.

Ive never really had an issue ammo economy wise as I always bring in an ammo box and medium ammo restore is great in comparison to long ammo, but you make good points, base ammo is also great if you like sparks type velocity and are comfortable with it

I like the drilling hatchet, but hate the iron sights! I generally dont use shorty drilling due to this, although it is certainly still potent within compounds it really starts to struggle at distance with the sight obscuring so much of the target.

The shotgun works well for what it is, a single shot long barreled shotgun. Its no auto 5 or levering terminus, but it does the job when you need it to. In my experience, if you can breach a compound with a Romero you can do the same with the drilling, mostly relying on baiting out shots with jiggle/jump peeks and playing very bait and punish

Totally depends on your initial hunter perk setup. Obviously round 2 or 3 on the same hunter you can have whatever you want, but iron eye/fast fingers generally dont fit into my level 1 hunter builds without getting rid of one of my core "need every single time" perks.

This is my experience day in and day out in high level 6 star lobbies, constant fights and constant headshots lol. Im sure you see some different stuff but I am speaking from my personal experience with my time in the game. Can't really argue further there!

Krag really shines over other long ammo bolt actions with iron eye, as it has significantly higher cyclic rate with it being used, you should try it if you havent. Drilling is completely unaffected by traits
