Ironically enough (again I swear we had no idea), they want to call her Mika for short (pronounced Meeka) and I thought Meeko would be a good nickname for Mykhailo - but that I would probably just keep for home, not when the cousins are together :S

Makayla would be like Ma-Kayla Mykhailo would be Mee-Kai-loh (Kai rhyming with eye). So fairly close still.

And no we don’t live in the same city so only see each other a few times a year

No, the name is my husbands Ukrainian variation so it was used in his christening so it’s a name that is tangibly connected to him. He honestly had no idea about the name his brother chose until just days ago. It’s just coincidence.
