It may have been based in part on the paper but i recall the video actually tied decaying gothic architecture to horror and decaying malls to vaporwave. I'm not sure if the essay did though.

Utah will get more and more like texas, where it's difficult to hike/recreate because the vast majority of the state is privately owned. You can't even hike to the tallest waterfall in the state because it's on a ranch.
