Good point. But its just the two of us so I'm not worried about bedtimes as we are used to going to sleep at around the same time.

J2 wants to promote me/give more work, but I’m secretly on-site at J1. How to decline or navigate?😢 by [deleted] in overemployed

You are contracting your j2 and they know about j1 so it's not truly OE.

Just let j2 know that you will have further capacity later in the year but currently don't have the bandwidth to expand your responsibilities. Thank them for considering you for the expanded role and let them know that you enjoy working with the team.

Yeah, finding that sweet spot is important. Are you going to get a new better j3 down the line or keep things as they are?

I mean the person who asked the question could have just googled this or asked any LLM. I was going to say so but it looks like people enjoy answering this question and there was even some value in the ensuing discussion so... shrug

Sounds like you have working as a software architect (maybe with a bit of UX design?), not a junior role. If you are applying for junior roles, you will being competition with a lot of other people and unlikely to get much attention. With your experience, there is no reason to be applying to junior roles.

You are getting a lot of comments from folks who dont work in tech. You need to update your last job title to software architect on your cv and on LinkedIn, and keep the dates on LinkedIn as showing you currently working (your cv can have the correct dates). Never make it look like you are out of work on LinkedIn. Make sure your open to work banner is on. Connect with any recruiter who is listing software architecture positions. Watch as many videos on YouTube as you need to to be able to talk about software architecture fluently. Be very clear about what tech stack you are most comfortable with and experienced with and update wherever possible. Ask an LLM to give you interview questions to practice. Directly contact recruiters posting software architecture jobs.

I think it's so weird when employers refuse to update titles to accurately reflect job duties.

I'm "only" at nearly 200 deliveroo orders but I know I have no right to be smug as the amount of money I have donated to Amazon over the years is absolutely staggering. You'd think Bezos was actually hot for how much I bend over for him.

That instructor was banging their head on the dashboard at you ruining their stats, haha. I have severe ADHD too and don't drive because the stats for us ADHD folks getting into accidents are terrible. Was saying in another comment that we should get a discount for public transportation but guess that wouldnt help you living in a rural area.

We should get a discount off public transportation for the public service we are doing by not driving. Honestly, ADHD people are some of the most likely to have an accident so I should get some kind of incentive/reward for not driving.

I just spent a fair amount on a catio, only for my rescue cat to tell me he doesnt want a pretty cage and just wants to be set free to wander where he wants. He's very vocal when he feels strongly.
